Meeting was called to order by ",Iayor Sharp,-with the foL owing Aldermen responding to roll call: C.?°. Agee, P.L. Benson, ''.R. Boyle, F.R. Ruff. n.2inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Charge off A letter addressed to the Council fro*~ the City Secretary was read, $202.29 in which it was stated that the account o.f X202.2$, charged to J.L. Dunham on the City books should be charged off before the books are closed for tI^.e fiscal year ending Parch 31,1.938. This is based on the Council action of April 10,1933. Barnes addressed the Council in behalf of the property owners Park Wn Bayshore Park, in regard to the mineral rights as connected with Dedication the dedication of the streets of that Brea to the City. A letter fror: City Attorney Kiibler addressed to the Council in reference to this matter,was read, follrnving which Ald. Boyle offered a motion, second by Agee, that the dedicatie~~. of the streets of Bayshore Park by the property owners, to the City of La Porte, be accepted and filed with the County Glerk. Carried. Fids Ald. Benson announced that bids had been asked on file cleaning of Imhoff the Imhoff Tanl; at the ~~isposal plant and that one sealed bid had Zank been received from Rr E.L. Thomas of Hcuston and that R4r L. Grugan of Houston was present to make a verbal bid. I~':r Grugan wa.s called before the Council and made the following verbal bid: L. Grugan : lj cents per cubic foot. The bid of ;.F.. Thomas was opened after I,Ir Grugan retir. ed from the Council room, it was as follows: 'p1~.0.00 total price a:Iot~ or} by Benson, second by .Agee, that E.?~.. Thomas be awarded the job of clearing the Imhoff Tank on his low bid of '"1.0.00 provided he is willing. to sign the contract as dratv~~ by the City Attorney. Bids The ARayor annotmced that bids on fire hose, which he had requested, Fire Aose had been received, and asked that the representatives of the Fire Hose Gompanies be called before the Council before the bids were opened. The following Companies had submitted bids and. their rep- resentatives were called in; Teas Belting; ~.: ~:upply Co-'!ahaattan hose, B.~'. Accepted After some discussion and a statement by the Chairman of the Fire Com. that the Multex, Multiple woven hose most nearly met the needs o£ the Fire Dept. at the present time, on motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, and passed by those present, the contact for 500 feet of ~" Multex, P~ultiple woven hoso, @ X1.10 per foot, coupled complete, delives~ed, was t~warded to the Eureka Fire Hose Division. The Mayor presented the Corporation Court Docket Report for the month of ~ ~ Court March, which was accepted and ordered placed on file on motion by Agee, • second by Boyle and pissed by those present. •• (continued, page 3) ~. 'i- (~atYmutes of 1~-11~, continued) 3 Report The Council accepted and ordered filed a report from the State Fire Insur- ~~ Fire ance Commission, on the American La France Ladder Truck Gom. A letter was read from R.B. Mc Aahan in regard to property in Block 7, La Porte ~eAshan which had been deeQtl.to the City by Mrs L.S. Mc Ashan. The letter was turned over to the City Attorney for investigation and advice, on motion by Agee, second by Ruff and ~idopted. by those present. Coin The Counicil advised the City Secretary that refunds cannot be made on Coin Mach Machine licenses, for music type of machine, which were taken out last year. Eleotion The Mayor presented the report on the City Election held April 5th,1938, at the City Hall as follows: For Mayor to serve for two years; Geo. E. Sharp b3 votes Gus Tips 1 votes For~Aldermen to serve for twa years: J.J. Roark 62 votes Fred R. Ruff 63 votes Fred Hartman 1 vote.' James ~,uldoon 1 vote °~~~ For City Secretary to serve for two years; 1~~rs ~i.O.Lambly 61~ votes For City Marshall to serve for two years: F..H. Baker James De Ladder b3 votes 1 vote The Mayor declared the following elected to serve for. two ,years: Geo. H. Sharp, .~'ayor, J.J. Roark and Fred Fc. F.uff, Aldermen, Mrs M.O. Lambly, City Secretary and &.H. Baker, City Marshall. B'otion by Agee, second by Ruff that the election returns be reoei~ed and p~aeed on file. Carried.. On motion by Agee, second by Ruff, the Council took adjournment. The newly elected officials were sworn in and administered the oath of office by City Attorney Jno. ~~'.. Kiiblor, except Ald.
