LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL
JULY 11, 1938, ~;00 P.P~.
Meeting was called to order by tila,yor Sharp with the following aldermen
responding to roll ealli C. M. Agee, F. R. Boyle, Fred R. Ruff.
Minutes of the last regular meeting, June 27th, were read and approved.
Minutes of Special Meeting, July 8, 1938 were read, and approved with
one correction: jhat Notice of Ordinance No. 271 be published in the
Daily Sun July 9, 1y38.
Mrs. P~. 0. Lambly, City Secretary requested that dates be set for a
Budget Meeting and the ~%qualization ~~oard Meeting. The last week in
July was selected as the most probable time that the ~t~eetings could
be called.
Contract ~~otion by Boyle, second by Ruff that City Attorney, Jno. S. Kiibler,
and Garrett Engineering Co. draw up contract, and submit said contract
to the City Council.

;~ final Motion by Boyle, second by Agee, that the final payment of 67.09 on
~~aymt. La Porte Volunteer Fire Department Insurance be paid to A. N. Me Kay,
Jns. Agent from the Delinquent Tax Fund.

~"arrants Motion by Agee, second by Boyle, that warrants No. 185? for X8.60 for
ratified expenses on Reo on trip to Cleveland, and Warrant No.191y for X10.00
to R. L. Aoker for expenses and time demonstrating; Fire Truck at
Cleveland, Texas be ratified.

Fills Motion by Boyle, second by Agee, that the bills in the amount of

Eller R~ Gripp Motion by Boyle, second by Agee, that Mayor Sharp be appointed a
bill adjust committee of one to secure an adjustment of the ~'ller and Gripp Co.

Receipt,Gayle City Attorney~,Jno. S. Kiibler presented a receipt from Gayle Bros.
Bros. Bonds for City of a Forte Sewer Funding Bonds, dated May 10, 1938 in
the denomination of X500.00 each, No. 1 to 22, both inclusive, with
l~ coupons attached; Warrant in the sl,m of ],107.08; 1ti~arrant in
the sum of X124.12; !°~arrant in the slnn of X257.92, all of which
was received in full, final and complete settlement of quit No.
210, 427, 80th District Court, Gayle Eros. vs. City of La Porte.
Carried
Glover Mayor Sharp reported for the Street and Alley Committee to Mr.
Taxi Glover of Goose Creek, that the City of La Porte would welcome
his operating a Taxi Eusiness in La Porte, Texas if he would
establish a regular business and furnish his own parking space
and telephone. And that the parking spaces on the streets
should not be used as a place of business.
