ItR IIBUTES LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL JULY 25,1938, 8:00 P.M. i it4eeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the follo~.ng kldermen responding to roll Dell: C.M. Agee, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, F.R. Ruff. B~inutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved. County Comissioner R.H. Spencer appeared before the Council in regard to the site for the new County Building about to be constructed in La Porte. R.R. Busch presented the plans 'of the building for the inspection of the Council and other citizens of LaPorte and details of the blue prints vrere explained by County Ltingineer Zapp. County Bldg. Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the City Council approve 'the pro- Site posed site and new County Building to be located on Lots 1 to 5,inclusive, Block 200, Town of La Porte, as presented by Commissioner R.H. Spencer. Carried. ~m rshall R.R.. Busch appeared before the Council in the interest of raising the salary salary of City Marshall R.H. Baker. Alderman Agee called for the report of the committee appointed to in- vestigate the matter. Ald. Foark reported as chairman of the com- mittee that, as preciously stated, th.e aa~unt of salary per year for the-period of two years had been set up by ordinance prior to the election and could not be changed. Corp.~curt The City Secretary presented the Corporation Court reports for the Feport months of April, May and June, 1938. Motion by Roark, second by Agee, that the Corporation Court reports for the months of April. M.ey and June, 1938, be accepted and ple.ced on file and that a warrant for the City Marshall~s fees for these three months be drav~n immediately. Carried. L'ond. Motion by Agee, second by Roark, that the Mayor,-Judge and ex-officio Clerk of the Corporation Court, furnish bond in the amount of X1,000.00 and the City to pay the premium. Carried. Garrett Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the following resolution be En~.Cc• adopted, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas that: The City of La Porte employ the Garrett Engineering Company . of Houston, Texas, to make a survey and preliminary maps of the proposed extension and improvements to the City water system under the written contract dated July 25,1938 and that th.e Mayor and City Secretary be authorized and instructed to execute such contract in duplicate originals after it has been executed by the Garrett Engineering Company and that one copy of such contract be placed in the City files, And it is so ordered. Bonds & Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the Mayor be authorized to de- ~'~arre,rlts stroy by fire City of La Porte Sewer Funding Bond, dated May 10th, to be burned 1938, numbered Twenty Thres(23), in the principal sum of Five Hun- dred DoZlars(500.00), together with Interest Coupons Nos. 1 to i~.5, both inclusive, attached to said Bondi on Wednesday, July 27th,1938 and furnish affidavit of same, Carried. motion by Agee, second by Roark, that the 3dayor be authorized to destroy by fire, on Wednesday, July 27th,1938, the follo~r3.ng de- scibed ~1~arrants : City of La Porte Sewer ~'~arrants, Series 1931, No. {Dne(1) dated August 15th,1931, in the amount of X225.69 and Nos. Two to Ten(2 to 10),both inclusive, dated August 15th,1g31, eac:n in the amount of X1,000,00, together with Interest Coupons Nos. 1 to l~l, both inclusive, attached to each of said ~Varrants~ and City of La Porte Refunding Warrants, Series 135, dated January lOth,1935 to January lOth,1950, optional prior to that date, being TNarrant 80. One(1) in the amount. of X225,69 and Nos. Twelve to Twenty Nine(12 to 29), both inclusive each in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars(~i~500.00), together with .Interest Coupons Nos. 1 to 29, both inclusive, attached to each of said ~fFarrants~ and that the Mayor furnish affidavit of same. Carried. Contract Potion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the following resolution be Johnson water adopted: line BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, that: The Bill of Sale dated July 20th,1938, executed by N.A. Johnson and Geo. H. Sharp, Mayor and Mrs M.O.Lainbly, City Secretary, covering the purchase by the City of certain water pipe from the said N.A. Johnson for the sum of X100,00 in `10,00 monthly installments, be and the same is hereby in all things, approved and ratified, And it is so ordered. Carried. Affidavit Tliotion by Agee, second by Boyle, that the affidavit of Fred Hartman. on the publication in the Daily Sun of Ordinance No. 271, be acce~t- ed and placed on file. Carried.
