Meeting was called to order by rdlayor Sharp with the fol~o~ring Aldermen
present: F.R. Boyle, J..7. Roark, Fred R. Ruff.
~rlinutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff that the bills as per the schedule listed
below, be allowed and $aid by warrant:

Bill Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the bill of the Daily Sun in the
journalized amount of $86.30 be allowed and journalized and that X26.30 be paid at
this time, the balance to be paid as the City Funds allow. Carried.

A:~otion by Roark, second by Boyle, that the August 1st installment on the
Burroughs Adding Machine, in the amount of X22.32 be paid. Carried.
Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that. the 'ivarrant No. 1985, in the amount
of ~7.~..50 issued to R.L. Acker, be ratified. Carried.
Motion by Roark, second by Boyle, that Harry Nickel be notified that he _
is no longer City Pound Master and that this office is to be handled in
the future through the City Marshall. Carried.
?Motion by Roark, second by Boyle, that the R.H. Baker pasture be designated
as the City Pound. Carried.

Permits Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the matter of permits for sound trucks
Sound Trucks and other amplyfying machines referred to in Ordinance iVO 271, be turned over
to the Police Committee. Carried
affidavits The Mayor presented affidavits oft the burning of City of La. Porte Sewer
~onds &; Funding Bond No. 23, with interest coupons attached thereto, City of La
tl~'arrants Porte Sewer warrants, Series 1931, No. 1 and Nos. 2 to 10, both inclusive,
with interest coupons attached thereto, and City of La Porte Refunding
~'~farrants, Series 1935, No. 1 and Nos. 12 to 29, both inclusive, with
interest coupons attached thereto, all as deser.ibed in the minutes of
July 25th,1938. A:Zotion by Boyle, second by Roark, that the above men-
tioned affidavits be placed on file for future reference. Carried.
Budget The Mayor presented the proposed Bndget for the fiscal year of lpril 1,
1938 to l~a.rch 31, .1939.
Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the budget be approved and that a
public hearing be held on September 12th,1938 at 8:00 P.M.-and that pro-
per notice of same be published in the official news paper of the City.
Carried.
Street Ligh~ Motion by Boyle, second by Muff, that the matter of the street light at
the ~a~dd car parking lot formerly operated by Gus-~i. Tips,Jr, be turned
over •to the Street and Alley Committee for report at the next meeting.

Traffic Motion by Boyle, seeondby Ruff, that the matter of the repairing of the
Signals traffic signals be turned over to the ~o13.ee Committee and the Mayor.

4uator She City Secretary reported that the test on the July water samples
Samples was good.
1q.F;oard The Couneil instruoted the City Secretary to notify the absent members
of the City Council that they were expected to be present at the hear-
ing set for the Equalisation Board on August 10th and 11th, at 9:00 A.?~i.
corresx~. l~?otion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the correspondence of the State
Points Highway Department and their Division Engineer Jim Douglas, in regard
to the drainage of Five~Points, be tabled. Carried
Tires ~ Motion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the matter of tires and wheels
+heels for the mower be turned over to the Street and Alley Committee with
~•`ower power to act, as pee the prices quoted in the letter of the Houston
Implement Co. dated August 5s1938. 3farried
On motion by Ruff, adopted by those present, the Council took adjourn-
ment.
