Minutes of the regule.r meeting of September 12,1938 and special meetir_g of September 21,1938 were read and approved. Johnson Lotion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the October 1st payment of X10.00 to N.A. Johnson on contract be a11o8ed and that bills of the Southern Engine So.Eng.& and Pump Co. aggregating ~281.1b be ordered paid on due date,September 27: Pump Co 1938• Carried Transfer Motion by Benson, second by Ruff, theft the amount of ~7?•62 be transferred from De1q.Tax the Delinquent Tax Fund to the General Fund. Acker in the amount of bill 25.68 for material and labor for the Fire Department be allowed and or- dered paid. Carried Payment to Motion by Benson, second by Agee, that the sum of X1,000.00 be paid to the 1st Nat.Fank First National Bank, from the General Fund, on the X2,000.00 note owed by the City to the Bank. Carried L~fg.Trust r~r'-otion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the bill of the Manufacturer's Trust Co.bill Co. in the amount of X1.68, covering postage on returned Bonds,~Varrants and Interest Coupons be paid. Carried This motion followed a report by the Finance Committee on this bill. Home Shade Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that the bill of the Home Shade and Furn- ~.Furn.Co. iture Co. in the amount of X8.1;_0 be paid. and that the City Secretary be in- bill strueted to write a letter to the Company in reply to their letter of Sept- ember 13, 1938. Carried over 2 • Sale of L'"ayor Sharp reported the sale of the Reo Combination Pumper and Bose Reo Fire Truck,I!fotor Igo. 108359, to thr- Tomball Volunteer Fire Dept. for the sum of Truck X1,000.00 cash, and presented a copy of the bill of sale for same. Motion by Ruff, second by Denson, tl-at the Council ratify the sale of that certain Reo Combination Pumper and Rosa Truck, with Three FIundred Fifty (350) gallon pump, bearing idotor No. 108359s together with the ac- cessories and equipment attached thereto, including Two Hundred (200) feet of Two and One-Half (2ti-) inch fire hose, by the City of La Porte to the ~lolunteer Fire Depar+,ment of Tomball, Texas, for the sum of One Thousand Dollars °1,000.00) cash in hand, on the 19th day of Sept- ember, 1938. Carried Adjust Reo Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the InsL~rance Policy on the Reo Ins. Policy Pumper and Hose Truck be adjusted, due to the sale of the Truck. Carried. Report,Police The Mayor called for a report of the Police Committee on a schedule Com. City for the City Marshall on the impounding of live stocky which was made 14Farshll fees by Ald. Agee, with recommendations from the committee. Notion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the Council adopt the recomonenda- tions of the Police Committee as follows: The Police Committee recommends the impounding of live stock be handled as follows That each animal taken up be held for three days then notice of sale be published in one issue of the official newspaper five days prior to the sale day. That the rnmer be charged by the City :y0.F0 for each animal taken up and the sum of X0.75 per day for feed and care of such animal. That the City Marshall receive X0.50 for taking up each animal and ~O.FO per day for feed and care of each animal, provided sale pro- duces enough to make such payment over and above the cost of pub- lication of notice, otherwise that he receive the proceeds of the sale after deducting the cost of advertising. Carried F:eport Police The Mayor called for a report from tY:.e Police Committee on a form of Com. Sound Eqp. Permit to be used for sound amplifying equipment, which was made by Ald. Carried. TJ:otion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the Mayor and City Secretary be authorized to issue a warrant in tt~e amount of X2,760.00 on the Int- erest & Sinking Bond Fund for +,he payment of Interest Coupons due October 10,1938 and a warrarrt in the amount of X5.52 on the General Fund for payment of Commission on the handling of Interest Coupons, purchase New York exchange in the amount of X2,765.52 and forward to the h'lanufacturer's Trust Co. of New York to cover the above men- tioned items. Carried. T'osta~~e Motion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the Mayor and City secretary be Tax LTati_ces authorized to issue a warrant in the sum of X20.00 on the General Fund for the purchase of postage in the mailir_g of Tax Notices. Carried from Fred Hartman Affidavits The City Secretary presented affidavits ~on the publication of a legal notice on budget hearing and on the publication of the statement of current assets and liabilities of the City of La, Forge for the fiscal year from April 1,1A37 to March 31,1938. Tax Roll The Mayor reported that the Tax Roll for the year 1938 had been approved checked and approved by the City Council.
