Meeting was called to order by bayor Sharp, with the following
Aldermen present: P.L. Benson, r^.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that the followia~g schedule of bills
in t he amount of X354.03, be ordered paid+

Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that the October 1st payment of
$22.32 to the Burroughs Adding Machine Co. be ordered paid. Carried.
Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that one half of the Dunlay Armand
bill of X119.81 be paid at this time and that the balance be paid as
soon as possible. Carried.
Motion by Ruff, second by Roark, that tre Humble Oil &. Refg. Co. bill
of X25.20 be ordered paid. Carried.
Sina3air Motion by Roark, second by Ruff that the City Secretary be instructed
to issue a warrant in the amount of X20.60 in payment of the bill of
Sinclair Refining Co. as rendered in September, 1938 and a warrant in
the amount of X1.20 to Chas. 1J~c Donald, to reimburse him for the am-
ount of Federal Tax which he deducted in error from tickets for gaso-
line purchased during June and July, 1938 and covered by the bill ren-
dered by, Sinclair in September,1938. Carried.
Eller w Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that city Warrant No. 1882 in the
Gripp amount of $89«74 be formrarded to Eller do Grip in settlement of their
bill of June 6,1938 anal that a letter of apology be written for the
long delay in delivery of same. Carried.

AfC Mrs Morgan Harris be turned over to the City Attorney for collection.
Carried.
Pfeiffer Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the matter of the Pfeiffer Elec:
Elec.Co tric Co. bill in the amount of X13.86 be turned over to the Police Com-
mittee to be ad3usted and that they be given power to act. Carried.
Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the following warrants be rati-

Baldwin BSotion by Roark, second by Ruff, that the contract with ~'.`P. Baldwin
contract dated R'Iay 12,1938, i~.n the amount of ~71~.03 be settled as follows:
The Cittr Secretary be authorized to issae a warrant in the amount of
~60•?5 covering the amount of Mr Baldwin's City of La Porto taxes for
1938 and a warra~ in the amount of ~11~.99,representing the balance
due after 1938 taxes are deducted, plus interest at 6~ per annum on
g7I~.03 from day 12 to October 1,1938,as per contract. Also that the
Secretary be instructed to write r~r Baldwin that the Tax Receipt for
$60.75 and the warrant for ~11a..99 will be forwarded to him shortly. '~~

City's FEA The Mayor presented a letter from the Federal Hmergeney Administration
No. of Public Works, giving the City Docket No. Tex.26)..N6. This was ordered
filed for future reference.
Vacation Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that Roy Hunt, Asst. Secy. be allowed
to take his vacation of 14 days, starting October 11th as per his re-
quest. Carried.
F're Ins. The City Secretary reported a refund of X2.98 on Fire Insurance golicy
~tefund No.A014393, covering the Reo Speed '~agon, due to the sale of this mach-
ine. Refund was made by A.N. ?J!c Kay ,Agt.
traffic Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the regulation of traffic lights
Lights be turned over to the Police Committee. Carried

Buying I,4otion by F~uff, second by Roark, that the City Attorney be instrue•ted to

not been done by notification date of November 10,1938, that the City Sec-
retary be authorized to notify the holders of four (1.~.) of the ~"~arrants
that the City wishes to buy them up on the interest bearing date, Jan. 10,
1938.
