Ruff, in the absence of mayor Sharp, the following Aldermen being present: C.a'. Agee, P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark and Ruff. '~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The &Zayor came in to the meeting at this point. The following correspondence was read by the City Secretary: Correspond- ~~ letter from the Eureka Fire Hose Division of the United States ence Rubber Co. granting a 2~ discount on the City's bill of X260.00, letter from W.F. ~3artranft of Jersey Heights, N.J. in which he de- clined the City's offer to take up his City of La Porte Refunding warrant No. 3, in the amoytnt of .;500.00 and interest to date, a letter from Joe R. Kubena, Seo'y of the Slavonic Benevolent Or- der of the State of Texas, accepting the City's offer to take up the Order's City of La Porte Refunding warrant No. 9 with interest to date ~f payment. Bond Deposit Fund had been placed on Time Deposit with the First National Bank of La Porte, to draw 2;a interest for one year froze march 2!.x,1939, also Chattell that the Chattell n°ortgage on the Am.La France Ladder Truck had been Dltg. cancelled by the Bank and had been returned together with the Insurance Policy on the Truck, at the tune o£ the payment of the :200.00 note, previously mentioned. Bids h~otion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the bids on 2" pipe be held over until the next regular Council meeting. Refundg Bonds Motion by Boyle, second by Benson, that the Mayor and City Secretary be & Int. authorized to purchase i~e~r York Exchange in the amount of x,5,760.00 in favor of the ~anufaeturers Trust Co. of N.Y., payable from the Int.3c Skg. Bond Fund, for the payment of City of La Porte Refunding Bonds No. 11, 12 and 13, in the amount of X1,000.00 each, plus interest Coupons in the iunount of X2,760.00, being Refunding Bonds and Interest due April Z0, 1939 and that the regular Commission of X11.52 payable from the General Fund be included in the Exohange purchased. Sewer Fundg rc':otion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the b'tayor and City Secretary be Bonds & Int. authorized to pay City of La Porte Sewer Funding Bond No.l in the am- ount of X500.00 together with Interest Coupons in the amount of ~Ia.03.26 due April 10,1939, payment to be made at the First National dank of La Porte, Texas,-from the Int. P~ Skg. Sewer Funding Bond Fund and any de- ficiency to be made up from the Int; &: Sinking `Narrazrt Fund. Carried. Audit pro- Motion by Agee, second by Boyle, that the proposals for audit of the posals City books be opened at this times Carried. Proposals were opened and tabulated as follows: W.D. Royston, X25.00 per day for senior aceountant,15.00 per day for each assistant, total not to exceed X150.00, Learned & Tapp,$125.00, ~tl`eGuire,lt~~azur & CD. X150.00, Smith Auditing Co.~25.00 per day for senior accountant,~15.00 per day for one junior accountant. ?~":otion by Boyle, seoond by Ruff, that Learned & Tapp be awarded the auditing of the City books on their low figure of $125.00. Seamen, Sylvan Beach Park,193? water account balance in the amount of ~83.?3, be transferred to Petty Accounts, total amount to be transferred ag- gregating ~2?_2.87 ,also that said R.J. Seamen,Sylvan Beach Park ac- count be turned over to the City Attorney for investigation to deter- mine whether the account is collectible. Carried.
