The Tayor presented the report of the Gulf Cities Tdatural Gas Co. for .the year x.938 which was accepted and ordered filed on motion b;r Foyle,, second by Rt~.ff, and carried by those present. The City Secretary presented City of La Porte i:efunding '~°arrant No. 9, with Coupons attached, and City of La Poke ::ewer Funding Bond To. 1, both of vrhiclz had been paid and cancelled. ova r y'~arrant :- ?`•"otion by ?'uff, second by Benson, that City of La Forte. Carried. ?.ettr,r The City Secretary read a letter from Learned d~ Tapp on the setting T:~x 5~,,;to.i up of anew Tax System for the City, asking that their firm be con- " sidered and be allowed to submit a proposal if a new system were contemplated. Totion by Boyle, second by Ruff that this letter be placed on file for future reference. Carried. Norris 11.8 votes ='.~~. Benson 191 votes a?.R. ~3oyle 2I~.6 votes C •~.-~ ~`-gee 217 votes ~::otion by Ruff, second by Boyle, that .~'.L. Ben~>aon, ',.t~:. Boyle and '~•~. ~=gee, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes be declared elected to serve as Aldermen for two years and that the election returns be placed on file. City ,Atty. The matter of appointment of committees and appointive officers was considered as follows: "~~otion by Ruff, second by Benson, that Jno.S. kiibler be retained as City Attorney at the present salary, for one year. Carried. Official r~'otion by Ruff, second by Benson, that the Daily Sun be designated as itifewspaper the official newspaper of the City for the period of one year with a contract covering duties,to be signed. Carried. The ;Mayor announced that the balance of the necessary appointments would be made at the next regular meeting of the Cty Council.
