Ruff in the absence of I~Gayor Sharg, the following Aldernen being present, C.~7. Agee, P.L. Benson F'.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, and Ruff. minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Goodyear The City Secretary presented a bill of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co• Bill which called for a 2;~ discount if paid before June 10th, a'Totion by Agee, second by Roark, that the bill of the Goodyear Tire ~. Rubber Co. in the amount of ~37.C,1 less ~~ discount, a total of X36.86, be paid by June 10th. Carried °tarrants ~.iotion by Agee, Second by Boyle, that tY:e following ti~arrants be ratified: H.C. Knighton No. 2735 for X18.80, H.C. Knighton No. 27l~3 for -~~lE?•00, J.'st. Davis No. 2736 for ,~1~.80, J.:'. Davis No. 27~l~, for ~~18.00 . Carried. Grdinance The City Secretary presented an Ordinance which had been prepared cover- Eq. Board ing the personnel of the Equalization Board for the fiscal year cf 1g39, Motion by Boyle, second by Agee that Ordinance No,2?5, being an Ordinance providing that the City Council shall act as the Board of Equalization for the year 1939, fixing the times of the meetings of sucl-a Board, pro- viding that the City Secretary shall act as Secretary of such Board and declaring an emergency be passed as read. Carried I:eports The City Secretary reported that the Tlayor and City secretary had. exe- cuted the necessary papers to complete a loan of 50C•00 by the City .from tY~e First National Bank of La Porte and that the bill of the La Porte Hardware Co• in the amount of :'553.90, less 2`~ for cash had been paid. The filing of proper affidavit on the burning of City of La Porte Refundir_~; Bonds No. 11,12 and 13, each in the principal sum of One Thous- and Dollars 01,000.00), dated October 10,A.D. 1Q3~.and due April 10,1939. was also reported. The City Secretary called the attention of the Council to the News letter of May 19th sent out by the League of Texas Municipalities, suggesting that cities write their Texas Senators and Congressmen their attitude on F~;A and Letters ~'dPA. Motion by Benson, second by Boyle, that the City Secretary be in.~truct- t° ed to write the Texas Senators and Congressmer_ that the City of Le, Forte is senators contem latin `r`~'ater and Sewer ~'xtensions and would be interested in PP1A or ~' +yA, .'SPA p g V'~PA grants or loans. Carried Chair ~,~otion by Boyle, second by Agee, that the City Secretary be furnished with a suitable office chair. Carried Insp.
