MINUTES
LA FORTE CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 26,1939,8:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order bg Mayor Pro tem Ruff, in thb absence of
Mayor Sharp. The following Aldermen were present, C.M. Agee, P.L. Benson,
~'.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The City Secretary presented the news letter from the Texas League of
Municipalities, dated June 23,1939, which had special reference to
legislation o~ Revenue Bonds. This was turned over to the City At-
torney for further study and report.
mayor Pro-tem Ruff presented a letter from the Ludlow Valve Mfg. Co.
of Houston in regard to the City's order of 6" cheok valve For Well
No. 2. Mr Ruff stated that the valve had been reoeived and installed~.~
Mayor Sharp Dame in to the meeting at this point.
E4• The Mayor called a meeting of the Council to sit as Equalization Board
Board for the City, for 8:00 oclock, Friday night, June 30,1939•
Int. ~dotion by Agee, second by Boyle, that the Mayor and City Secretary be
Refdg instructed and authorized to issue a Warrant in the amount oP X10.00
~; Tarrant in favor of the Manufacturer's Trutt Co. of New 'fork, to cover the
July 10th interest on City of La Porte Refunding Warrant No. 3. The
above described warrant is to be dPsarged to the Int. & Sinking War-
. rant Fund. garried
Bill of Motion by Agee, seaond by Ruff, that the Mayor and City secretary be
Sale authorized to execute a Bill of Sale to Harry Witek for that certain
Royal Typewriter No•11~-85209 belonging to the City of La Porter for
the sum of X3.00.
Carried.
Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that '+~arrant No. 2823, to J.S. Chiver,
in the amount of X3.50 be ratified.
Carried.
Tires Alderrna.n Boyle made a detailed report of his investigation of prices
Grader and speoifications on tires for the grader advisin~ that the higher
priced tires contained a corresponding hig~ier amoun of rubber.
~ttotion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the City buy 2 - 32 x 5, Solid
Cushion Tires for the front wheels of the grader, @ X53.78 per tire,
pressed on , delivered at La Porte ~ purchase to be made from Goodyear
Tire & Rubber Co. thro their agent C.C. Mc Donald. Carried.
Post Motion by Benson, seaond by Agee, that the Mayor and City Secretary
Cards be authorized to issue a Warrant in the amount of X15.00 for Post
Cards to be used for Water Bills.

Cutting greeds Alderman Boyle made a report on the condition of the greeds and grass
& grass on the streets and in the ditches. lotion by Agee, second by Benson
that the cutting of the greeds and grass on City Streets and ditches
be turned over to the Street & Alley Committee.
Carried
There being no Further business to come before the meeting, on motion
by Agee, second by Benson, the Council took adjournment.
