LA PORTS CITY COUNCIL
'. SEPTEMBER 25,1939,8:00 P.T+.~.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with t ne following Aldermen
present: C.?~". Agee,P.L. Benson, F.R. Boyle, Fred R. Ruff.
"Rinutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Taxi Cllr J. Mc Kay appeared before the Council asking what the City require-
ments would be in regard to running a. taxi in La Porte. The City Attorney
outlined the requirements including an established place of business and
proper bond. Ald. Boyle then offered a motion, second by Benson, that the
Mayor be authorized to issue Mr J. Rlc Kay a permit to run a taxi in La Porte
when Mr Mc Kay has fulfilled the City's requirements and has obtained the
approval of the City Attorney in the matter. Carried
Ho.::.r. In response to the request of the City Council, Mr F.A.Au$tin, represent-
ing the Houston Lighting & Power Co~,appeetred before the Council to explain
the new rates charged to the citizens of La Po rte for electric energy, both
domestic and corrnnercial. After a complete discussion of the matter with the
Council, Mr Austin presented to the City a schedule of the rates which were
ordered placed on file.
Corp. The 24ayor presented the Corporation Court reports for the months of July
court and August. Motion by Agee, second by Boyle that these reports be accepted
and that the fees of the ~".a.yor and City Pda.rshall be ordered paid.
Carried.
Envel- Motion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the extra order of window envelopes
open in the amount of X40.10, for the use of the Tax Department be accepted
and payment to the Post Office be made. Carried.

ington Gamon 1!Zeter Co. be paid. Carried.
T~aote Motion by Benson, second by Ruff, that the Mayor and City Secretary be
F?~?B authorized to pay $250.00 on the note of X500.00 due to the First Nat'l.
Hank, dated Aug.9,1939, and that interest to date be paid. Carried.

Ditches Ps~otion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the cleaning of ditches in La Porte
cease at this time. Carried
Brie.ge Motion by Benson,seeond by Agee, that a bridge be built to serve the Dan
Gates place,described as Lots 25 ~ 26, Block 53, La Porte. Carried
Bond Int.T~Rotion by Agee,second by Ruff, that the Mayor and CitjT Secretary be auth-
Coupons °rized toy issue ;¢he following warrants: Int. & Skg. Bomd Fd. in the am-
ount of y,2,700.00 for payment of Oct. 10th interest, and General Fund in
the amount of 5.Ja.0 for commission on above, buy Neer York Exchange in favor
of Manufacturer's Trust Co. and forward by Oct. 10th. Carried.

Bonds,Irt. be authorized to transfer by 'Tarrant from the Int. &Skg. ~~arrant
Fund to the Int. ~, Skg. Sewer Funding Bond Fund, the necessary am-
ount to take care of Oct. 10th interest on Sewer Funding Bonds, in
the amount of x'"210.00, to be paid from the Int. .~ Ski;. Sewer Fund-

Conservation tended the meeting of the Association for dater Conservation in
Houston recently,for the purpose of protecting the City's interests
i n the matter.
b4otion by Rurf, second by Agee, that the bill of X3.00 due Ald. Boyle
for expenses to the ti'`ater Conservation meeting in Houston, be paid.

Business having been concluded, en motion by Agee, the Council ad-
