Meeting, which had been postponed from December 25th to December 27th,1939 was called to order by the Mayor, with the following Aldermen present: -P.L. Benson, ~'.R. Boyle,J.J. Roark, rred R. Ruff. P.ginutes of the last meeting were read amd approved. Sal. R.R. Busch appeared before the Council on the matter of the amount of sal- City Marshal`~ry for the office of City ?~'Iarshall to be set by City Ordinance. After full discussion it was agreed by the Council to hold over to the next regular Council meeting, January 8,1940, the passage of the Ordinance fixing the sal- aries of City officials to be elected at the City election in April. The following bimis were ordered paid on motion by Ruff,second by Benson, Bills R.L. Acker, $8.95, Warrant No. 3259 League of Texas Municp. °$20.OO,War. No. 3260 Carried. B~arrants Motion by Ruff,second by Roark, that the following ~~arrants be ratified: No.3239,J.~'J'. Davis,~1.60f No.321~0,~'.J. ArmstrQng,~1.60; T.& N.O. R.R.Co., ~1.OO,No. 321.. Carried '~ Water Motion by Boyle second by Benson, that the City Secretary be authorized Pamphlets to purchase 50 pamphlets on ""~MFa.ter Metering & Water Estimating"' from The Ambassador Co., Temple, Texas at 3 cents each. Carried. day Roll The City Secretary reported that on order of the Council the complete monthly pay roll which was due December 31,1939, was paid on December 22nd, and that the weekly pay roll was paid through December 23rd, on December 22nd,1939. Septic Motion by Ruff second by Benson, that the matter of the discharge of the Tank septic tank at the new Baptist parsonage on North A.St. be turned over to the Street R, Alley Committee with power to act. Carried. Street Motion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that the City Secretary be instructed to Lights Fite the Houston Lighting & Power Co. asking that the Street and Tower Lights be adjusted so that they will burn until daylight, winter and sum- mer. Carried. Fire ?~TOtion by Boyle, second by Ruff, that Jack Oliv® be asked to appear before Siren the City Council at the next regular meeting, Jan.8,1940, to make temporary arrangements on the matter of taking care of fire siren alarms during the hours when the City office is closed.
