Ruff. r'iinutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Resignation P:2ayor Sharp read a letter of resignation from F.R. Boyle as City Alderman. T~lotion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the resignation of a'.R. Boyle as City Alderman be accepted. Carried., Letter T~Jiotion by Roark, second by Ruff, that the City Attorney be requested to write a letter of appreciation to F.r:. Boyle for his services as Alderman. Carried. Carried ICote Motion by Ruff, second by Agse, that the City borrow X500.00 from the First National Bank of La Porter, Texas, for ninety days at 6o per annum interest, the amount to be deposited in the General Fund. Carried. Resolut'~on. The bR.ayor presented the following resolution for a Special Election: Special ~tHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Alderman of the 'l~,e'+.,iGr City of La Porte, Texas, requiring a special election to fill such office for the unexpired term ending in April, 191.x.1.; N0~'V, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of said City of ~ Porte, Texas, that a special election be ordered to be held at the City Hall in said City on the 29th day of June, A.D. 1910, for the purpose of electing one member to the Board of Aldez;nen of said City to fill the vacancy of the unexpired term ending in April, 1911. It is further ordered that said election be held in the man- ner prescribed by law for such elections. Torres- A letter from the La Porte Cemetery :_ssocia'cion was read, motion by pondence Agee, second by Ruff, that the letter be placed on file. Carried. Proposal ~ letter was read by the T,~ayor from T.`.. ~'. Smith of the Foundation vyste;;l setting out a proposal on treating the City Hall for the con- trol of 4ubterranean Termites. A r:iotion was offered by Ald. F,uff, second by Agee, that the Cit~,r Secretary be instructed to write for bids on termite eradication. Carried. Opinion The City Attorney's opinion on. the status o£ ''.r. Boyle was received and filed. Com. Chair- The ll~Iayor anr:~ounced that the men second on tYie list of Corlimittees men will act as Chairmen of the Covnlittees until after the Specisl Election.
