I!~~a.yor Sharp. The following Aldermen were present, P.L. Benson, J.N.
Johnson, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff.
?w4inutes of the last regular meeting of July 8th and special meeting
of July 11th were read and approved.
Bills Z4'otion by Benson, second by Roark, that Petty Cash in the amount of
X11.32 be renewed and that the bill of Horton & Horton, in the amount
of X85.00, less discount of X6.80 if paid by July 25th, be allowed and
ordered paid.

Refdg. The City Secretary reported that the amount of X511.02 had been for-
'~~~ar.~-3 warded as per the instructions of the City Council, to the P;Sanufact-
urers Trust Co. of N.Y. by New York Exchange to cover payment of City
of La Porte Refunding 'arrant No. 3, for ,y500.00, Int Coupon for X10.00
due July 10,1940, together with commission of X1.02, but that no report
had as yet been received b-r the City.

August 2nd,1940 and that a '~~arrant in the amount of X35.00 for his ex-
penses be authorized, also that the relief man for the lire Chief be
paid the sum of '5.00 for services during the absence of the Chiex",

Termite r~LLotion by Roark, second by Benson, tl~ t the bid of the Sanitary Insect
Bid Destroyer Co. of Houston on the termiting of the City Hall, be placed
on file with the other bids on termiting.

Fire T"otion by Roark, second by Johnson, that the letter of the Simplex
Apparatus Fire Apparatus Co. be placed on file.

~.C. I;eed on Mayor Sharp presented the matter of clearing the title on lots in
Block 1~',L.P. Block 19, La Porte, which had been included in Suit No. 10,781,
through error, by the issuance of a quit claim deed by the City.
P~lotion by Roark, second by Ruff, that the City of La Porte issue
a quit claam deed on Lots 25 to 32, inclusive, Block 19, La Porte,

Sub-Div. T~~otion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the City Council approve
58.n Jacinto the plat and sub-division of the San Jacinto Homes, an addition
Homes to the City o-" La Porte, Te.;as, being a sub-division of Bloc?~s
110. 218,221~.,225,226,239,21_~.0 and 21.1, of the Tovrn of La Porte,sub-
divided by Guy R. Hamilton, and that the T,7ayor and City Secretary
be authorized to execute the certificate for same.

Bud~:;et T;~layor Sharp presented the proposed Budget for the fiscal year of
April 1,191.0 to ~tiarch 31,191.1.
Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that this proposed budget be
accepted, filed in the office of City Secretary for inspection
by the public, that a public hearing be held on August 26,191.0
at the City Hall at La Porte, Texas at 8;00 P.T. and that pro-
per notice of such hearing be published in the official newspaper.

Equalization The Tax hssessor, ~~rs T~i.O.Lar.:bly, reported that the tax renditions
Board and assessments were ready for the Equalization Board.
Ordinance ro. 281 was read, being an Ordinance providing that the
City Council shall act as the Board of 1qualization for the year 19.0,
fixing the times of the meetings of such Board, providing that the
City Secretary shall act as Secretary of such Board and declaring an
emergency.
Ord.2~s1 Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that Ordinance No. 281 be passed
as read.
Carried.
T~Zayor Sharp called the City Equalization Board to meet ~fy`ednesday
night July 21~.,191~.0 at the City Hall at 7:30 P.P~i.
Hamilton i~iotion by Benson, second by Ruff, that the records be checked and
vacation if it is found that ~..5. Hamilton is due a vacat~.on at this time
that he be allowed to take it.

considered with the change of the City electrical Inspector,

On motion by Johnson and carried by those present the meeting was
adjourned.
