MINUTES
LA PORTS CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEPdBER 23,1940,8:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro-tem Ruff in the ab-
sence of Mayor Sharp. The following Aldermen were present,
C.~,a. Agee, P.L. Benson, J.r1. Johnson, Fred R. Ruff.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
'eater A delegation of La Porte citizens with F.G. Gillette as spokesman,
District appeared before the City Council to present the matter of the pro-
posed eater District for Barris County. After some discussion
it was agreed that a group of citizens, including members of the
City Council would attend a meeting palled at West University Place,
Tuesday evening,September 24th to discuss the proposed pro3ect.
Motion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the following schedule
of bills be allowed and ordered paid:

Carried.
Transger Motion by Benson, second by Johnson, that if there are insufficient
funds in the General Fund at the end of September to cover the pay
roll, the Mayor and City Secretary be authorized to transfer the
sum of X100.00 from the Special eater Improve~ents Fund to the Gen-
eral Fund, this amount to be retuned to the Special Water Impts.
Fund as soon as it is available in the General Fund.
Carried.
1~~~.0 Tax The City Secretary reported that the 1940 Tax Roll had been com-
I1o11 plated with valuations of X1,501,731.00 and taxes in the amount
of X22,527.65 ~ to be collected as of October 1,1940, P.!otion by
Agee, second by Johnson, that the following resolution be adopteds
RESOLUTION
Whereas, the City Council has examined the City of
La Porte tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor 8c Colleotor
and found such record to be correct;
NOVt, TfU;REFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA PORTS that the tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor &:
Colleotor be and is hereby approved as the City Tax Record for the
year 191.~o and the City Tax Kssessor and Collector is hereby in-
structed to collect the taxes in accordance with such record.
And it is so ordered. Carried.
Fefdg.Eond c; Puotion by Agee, second by Benson, that the ~7ayor and City Secretary
Sewer Bor_d be authori9ed to issue the following warrants in payment of October
Coupons 10th interest coupons on City of La Porte Refunding fonds and City
of La Porte Sewer Fundin€ Eonds: ydarrant in the amount of X2,620.00
on Int. & Skg. Bond Fd. and warrant in the amount of ~5.2t~ on the Gen-
eral Fund,to purchase T;ew York exchange in favor of the b~asiufacturers
Trust Co. to cover interest on Refunding Bonds; th~+ 'arrant on
Sewer Funding Bond Fund be written to ao4er October 14th Interest`
Coupons at the Fi~:st PTational Eaxi$ of La Porte in the amount of
X200.00. Carried.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, on
motion by Agee, second by Johnson, meeting adjourned.
