I~ieeting was called to order by I~Ia.yor Pro-tem Ruff in the absence of
Mayor Sharp. The following Aldermen and officials vrere present:

2~rs Daphne Meister appeared before the Council as the local V~'PA
recreational director and asked the privilege of roping off a section
of Second Street from the City Hall to Main Street on the night ofNov.
15th for the purpose of presenting an entertainment to which there
would be no charge. She asked the assistance of the City in lighting
the area and asked permission to hold a parade on the night of Povember
1l~th.. ~~Iotion by Roark, second by Johnson, that this matter be turned
over to the Street & Alley Committee to cooperate with Plrs r~ieister in
working out the details of plans.

Hunt The Mayor pro-tem asked for correspondence to be read and the resigna-
resigned tion of Roy A. Hunt as Assistant City Secretary was presented.
Motion by Agee, second by Roark, that the resignation of Roy A. Hunt as
Assistant City Secretary be accepted, to take ei'fect November 23,1g1a.0.

Isensee The Applioation of George Isensee,Jr. for the place of Assistant City
employed Secretary, was read at this time. t.`otion by Agee, second by Johnson,
that the City employ George Isensee, Jr. for the position of Assistant
City Secretary, to begin November lst,lgl~0 at a salary of ~~.0.00 per
month.

Refunds Notion by Agee, second by Johnson, that'the following refunds be au-
thorized: To E.1'?, Gruendler, lOq.l.~2 ~on the extension of the Ba.y Ridge
1~later Line from the ~.L. Crain property to the E.W. Gruendler property,
a.s per contract. To. Guy R. Hamilton, ~q.25 on sewer connection to
sewer extension in San Jacinto tomes Addition as per contract.

men whom he asked the mayor pro-tem to appoint for Police duty on
the night of October 31st,Hallowe~en. Motion by Johnson, second
by Agee, that the following men be appointed for Special Police

of the tools used in the County VUpA Drainage project be turned
over to the Street & Alley Committee.

Sat. closing Motion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the City I3a11 office be
closed each Saturday afternoon at 1:00 oclock, beginning Nov-
ember 1,191x.0.

F3dg.R,Tat. Ald. Agee presented a letter from f'~.J. Putney, Assistant Flood Coa-
. trol Engineer,of the Harris County Flood Control District, asking
that the City furnish the material required to install two bridges
at the intersection of First and Broadway Sheets, in connection
with the County V~~PA Drainage project in La Porte. Bids were pre-
sented on the lumber as Po~.~ows ; La Porte L~'unber Co. ~183.1.~7;
Auweiler Lumber Co. ~2?~.60. r~gotion by Roark, second ~y Johnson,
that the contract for this material be awe.rded to La Porte Lumber
Co. on their low bid of ~183.1.a.7. ^

There being no further business to come before the meeting, on
motion by Agee, second by Roark and carried by those present the
meeting adjourned.
