Payment on Motion by Ruff, second by Benson that the City Secretary be instructed Y'~-G bill to pay 1/~j of the amount of X213.50 due Y~orthington Damon Rueter Co. as soon as funds are available. Carried. Ord. 285 Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, that Electrical Ordinance No. 285 be published published in the City's 0~°ficial newspaper, the Daily Sun of Goose reek. Carried. Burroughs Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the I~liayor be authorized to contract renew the annual service contract arith Burroughs madding D~;achine Co. on the City's Adding machine, for the sum of ~8.80~ and that a 44ar- rant be forwarded to the Company with the contract. Carried. Corres- The Mayor presented a letter Prom k.R. Randolph,Chairman Traffic pondence Safety Com. of the Rotary Club, making suggestions in the interest of traffic safety in La Porte. Motion by Ruff, second by Benson, that this letter be turned ovor to the Police Committee for action. Carried. L~20 Fc 21 The Mayor called for a report of the Finance Committee on the matter of R1k.39,Z..P. Lots 20 & 21, Block 39, La Porte and Improvements. Ald. Agee reported that h.B. Harrison refused the City's offer of X1,500.00 for the pro- perty. Riotion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the City purchase Lots 20 & 21, Block 39, La Porte and Improvements from H.B. Harrison for the sum of X1,800.00, R~otion lost. over r • Delq. After a full discussion of the delinquent tax situation a motion was Taxes offered by Ald. Roark, second by Johnson that the City's delinquent taxes be turned ovor to the City Attorney for collection. Carried. Blec. Board ~.~,ayor Sharp appointed the follo~ring members of the Electrical Board provided For in Ordinance No. 2~31~.: City ~'lectrical Inspector L.L. Price, C.C. Crenshaw, representative of a Utility Co., J.J. Roark, member of the City Council. h~otion by Johnson, second by Benson, that the appointments of the ~rayor be confirmed. Carried. I~ospitali- Alderman Benson presented the matter of hospitalization and compen- zation sation insurance for City employees, after full discussion a motion was offered by Ald. Roark, second by Benson, that the City pay for Hospitalization insurance for the City employees when the employees have agreed on a policy, not to exceed X1.75 per person per month. Al~otion lost. Compensa- motion by Puff, second by Johnson, that the City take out compensation tion insurance for City employees. Motion Carried. St.Lgts. Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that the matter of discontinuing service on any of the street lig}its now in operation under contract with the Houston Lighting and Power Co. be turned over to the City Attorney for investigation and report. Carried.
