MINUTES
~ LA PORTS CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 25,19I~.1,8:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the following Aldermen
and City officials present: Aldermen C.M. Agee, P.L. Benson, J.N. Johnson,
J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff, City Attorney Kiibler, City Secretary Lambly.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
r.G. Gillette appeared before the Council in the interest of traffic safety,
cuticing down of speeding and running of red lights. Council thanked Mr Gillette
for his interest e.nd timely re:pa.rks and pledged continuance of the campaign
for observance of traffic rules.
Warrants Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that the following warrants be ratified:

Bills Motion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the following bills be allowed and
ordered paid; Texas & N.O. R.R. annual sewer rental X1.00; Clifford Rousey,
Royal T.W. Co. X16.00.
Carried.
Sal. Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that the salary of the Assistant Seoy.,
Asst.Secy Geo. Isensee,Jr. be raised X10.00 per month, retroactive to February 1st,
1941.

Taxes The City Secretary presented a letter from the City Attorney on the taxes,
State and County,City of La Porte and La Porte School District, to be paid
on Lots 20 & 21 & Impts.,Block 39, La Porte, recently purchased by the City
from H.B. Harrison. '
Motion by Roark, second by Ruff, that the matter of the School taxes on Lots
20 & 21, Block 39, La Porte be turned over to the City Attorney and the Finance
Committee to see what van be worked out.
Carried.
Transfer Notion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the Mayor and City Secretary be
authorized to transfer the amount of $302.71 from the Special °yater Impts.
Fund to the General Fund to cover State and County taxes in the amount of
$15.12 and City of La Porte taxes in the amount of X287.29, on Lots 20 & 21
Block. 39, La Porte. Carried.

Dalq. Tax The City Secretary and Tax Collector presehted the 191.0 Delinquent
Roll Tax Roll, as of January 31,191.1, in the amount of X9,321.05, for
examination by the Council. Motion by Agee, second by Johnson that
the City of La Porto Delinquent Tax Roll in the amount of X9,321.05,
as of January 31,19la.1, be approved.
Carried.
Affidavit The City Secretary presented an affide~vit from the Daily Sun of Goose
Creek on the printing of the City's ElectricQl Ordinance No. 285.
This affidavit was ordered filed.
The Mayor read the following election order:
Election Be it ordered by the Mayor and City Council of La Port®,
order Texas that the annual election be held at the City Hall Building in
said City of La Porte, on the 1st day of April, A.D.191+1, for the pur- ..,
pose of electing three members to the Board of Aldermen of said City.
It is further ordered that ~'.W. Reynolds, Otis Harrison and
Mts June Kirchner are hereby appointed election officers,as designated,
and that said election be held in the manner prescribed by law for hold-
ing such elections.
It is further ordered that the returns of such election be
delivered to the City Council of said City, in open session, as soon as
practicable after the closing of the polls.

It is further that proper notice of such election be pub-
lished in the 'official newspaper.
The Mayor announced that the alternates on the election board would be
appointed at a later date.
Motion by Benson, second by Johnson, that the election order be passed
as read.
Carried.
There being no further business to come before the meeting,on motion
by Agee, second by Johnson and carried by those present, the meeting
ad3ourned.
