MINUTES
LA PCRTE CITY COUI3CIL
APRIL 28,19L~1,8s00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp with the following
Aldermen and City Officials present: C.M. Agee, J.N. Johnson,
C.F. Norris, J.J. Roark, F.R. Ruff: City Attorney Kiibler, City
Seoretary Lambly.
Minutes of the lest meeting were read and approved.

Audit Motion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the audit of the City's
books by Learned & Tapp be accepted and bill of X135.00 be ap-
proved.
Carried•
Salaries Motion by Ruff, second by Norris, that the City Secretary be in-
structed to pay the monthly salaries as far as the funds will per-
mit.
Carried.
FAA The Mayor reported on the telegrams which. had been sent to our
Representatives on the FHA defense housing, by reading a let~er
from A.C. Ford, District Director of FHA, statiag that La Porte
could not be designated as a Defense Area. This letter was ord-
ered placed on file.
Warrants Motion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the following warrants in
the amount of X17.23 be ratified: 4383, J.W. Davis,~2.00; 4384
W.F.. Vickers,~2.63;4385,Ed Morris,~1.1~0;1.~388,J.W.Davis,~3.20;1.389,
Geo. Simon,~8.00.
Carried.
Mot~.on by Ruff second by Agee, that the bill for the audit be paid
when funds are available.
Carried.
H.R.458 Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the City Attorney be instructed
to write our representatives on House Bill No. 458, which has to do
with fixing the minimu~a wage to be paid for salaries of firemen and
policemen.

Spencer Motion by Ruff, seoond by Johnson, that the condition of the sewer
sewer at the Wilma H. Spencer house be turned over to the Sewer Committee
for investigation.
Carried.

used,Church
Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that the Church of Christ be
allowed to use the City building on Lots 20 ~c 21, Blogk 39, La Porte
temporarily for meetings until such tiffie as the City requires it.

Map Motion by Ruff, second by Norris, that a R'lap of the City of La Porte
be furnished to the State Highway Department for their use in the
construction of Highway 11ab.

Kibodeaux Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the letter of Application
of Isaac Kibodeaux be planed on file for future reference.
Carried
Application8 The City Secretary was requested to open the letters of Application
for the City Sob at this time; applications were read from. Geo.
Simon, C.H. Davis and Ted Kohleffel. Motion by Agee, second by Ruff,
that these applications be pls.ced on file.
