Letters Prlayor Sharp presented a letter from Olin Culberson,Secretary State Fire- mens Assn. of Texas•~on the absence of the City's elected representatives of the Fire Dept. from the 65th annual Convention at Wichita Falls. Motion by Ruff,seeond by Johnson, that the City Secretary be instructed to write Mr Culberson that the City of La Porte was represented at the convention by the Fire Chief, C.J. Wilson. Carried r~-. Fire School Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, teat the be authorized to send a rep- resentative from the Fire Dept. to the Firemen's Training School at College Station, July 20th to 25th inclusive and that the Mayor and City Secretary be authorized to draw-a ti`~arrant in the amount of X35.00 to cover the expense, as provided in the Budget. Carried. Letters The Pfiayor presented letters from the following: Marvin Ha11,Fire Ins. Commissioner, on Fire School at College Station, Gov. W. Lee O'Daniel on Defense Police Mobilization, Geo. ~d. Cox, M.D. on the City Health Officer, St ~1ary's University on placing of a.street light adjacent to the University. On motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, these letters were ordered placed on file. - Carried. St 8c Alley Motion by Ruff, second by Agee, that the matter of the placement of a street light at St Mary's Univ. be turned over to the Street & A ley C~smittee and that the City Secretary bo instructed to write St dda~y's of th3.s action. - Carried.. Applc. The City Secretary presented the-Application ~f C.H. Davis for the City Job Job of Maintenance Man in the St.& Alley Dept. Motion by Age®, second by Ruff, that this application be turned over to the Street & A~.ley Committee. ~ Carried. e Letter The City Secretary presented a letter from Mrs D~iinnie Ritz on the tri- angle project. Motion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the matter be turned over to the Water Committee with power`-to~aat and that the Sec- retary be instructed to write 11Crs•Ritz to that effect. Carried. Garbage Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the r~Ca.yor be instructed to call Disposal a Special Pdeeting of the Couneil~.for the discussion of Garbage Disposal. Carried. Lawn Motion by Aged, second by Johnson, that the Building Committee be author- Mower ized to buy a lawn mover and arrange for the cutting of grass at the City Hall. Carried. FWA The Mayor presented letters from G.F. Harley,Regional Direetor,Federal .Works Agency, Gov. W. A. copy of the contract was turned over to the City Attorney to ba checked. Pdayor Sharp announced that the matter would be con- sidered further at a Speciel T~eeting.
