Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sharp, with the following Alderson and City Offioials presents Ald: J. N. Johnson, Fred R. Ruff, C. F. Norris, J. J. Roark, City Atty. Kiibler, Assistant Secretary Christensen. Minutes of the last regular seating and the Special Meeting o£ December 12, 191.1 were read and approved. Shell Bill Motion by Norris, second by Roark, that the bill Eros Fred G. Fred Gillette in the aaount of X5.25 for three yds. shell deli7ered Gillette and spread at the stucco house crossing be paid Carried. C. H. Belly Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson that the bill from C. H, Bill Kelly, City Engineer, in the amount of X8.00, for Engineering Fee in connection with work on No. 1 Water Well be paid Eros Transfer Speoial Water Improvesents Fund; also that the Texas Water Sup- ply Corporation bill in the amount of ~160.€~3 and the Gulf Con- crete Pipe Co. bill int the amount of $1.7.25 be transferred Eton the General Fund to the Special Water Improvesents Fund. Carried. Letter of Motion by Ruff, second by Roark, that the City Secretary write Reco~smenda- a letter of recommendation to R.J. Fields, Secretary of the Town tion of Freeport, concerning Mr. C3aud Boat right. Carried. La Porte Motion by Roark, second by Ruff, that the La Porte Hardware Co. Hardware Co. bill in the aaount of X16.74 be ordered paid. Bill Carried. Water Works Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that a fence be built around Fence the Water Works and that work be started immediately. Carried. Bids Motion by Ruff, second by Norris, that the City ask for bids on 500 feet of Underwriters Fire Hose. Carried. Welcome Motion by Roark, second by Norris, that the City Seoretary write Sign the Houston Lighting and Power Co. asking that tha Welcome to La Porte sign be put back in service. Carried. Christmas Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the City Employees be Pay Roll paid at noon December 21.}, 191}1; Weekly employees salaries to be paid to and including December 25, 19141 and sonthly employees to be paid to and including December 31, 1941; also that the Ove r • City Office close at 12;00 noon on December 21a., 1911. Carried. Motion by Johnson, second by Ruff, that the meeting be recessed until 7:30 P.M., Monday, December 29, 19La1. Carried. DECEMBER 29, 1941, 7:30 P.~d. Ordinance No. 294 was presented and read by the Mayor. Ordinance Motion by Roark, second by Ruff, that Ordinance No. 294 being AM 294 ORDINANCE FIXING RENTALS TO BE PAID BY GAS COMPANIES OR OTHER PER+ SONS NOII OR HEREAFTER DISTRIBUTING, SELLING OR DELIVERING NATURAL GAS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF Idl PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF USING AND OCCUPYING WITH THEIR GAS PIPE LINES, PIPES, FIXTURES AND OTHER STRUCTURES AND EQUIPMENT THE STREETS, EASEMENTS, ALLEYS, PARKS AND OTHER PUBLIC WAYS AND PLACES WITHIN SAID CITY, PRO- TIIDING FOR THE ACCEPTANCE ~REOF BY THE GAS COMPANY AND PROVIDING AN EMERGENCY:, be adopted as read. Carried. Extension Motion by Johnson, second by Ruff, that the City Council extend the ,~ Taxes waiving of penalties and interest on delirnluent taxes under the pro- visions oP House Bill 76, from November 20, 1941 to January 31, 19la2, and to reimburse those that have paid penalty and interest during this time out of the General Fund. Carried. potion Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the motion to get bids on 500 rescinded feet of Underarriters Fire Hose be rescinded. Carried. rreoord Fire Motion by Ruff, second by Johnson, that the City order 500 feet of xese 2~" Record Fire Hose, at $0.95 per foot, from the Eureka Fire Hose Division. Carried.
