Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff, with the following Aldermen and City officials presents J.N. Johnson, Jack Kerber C.F. Norris, J.J. Roark, Attorney Kiibler, Secretary Lambly. Minutes of the last regular meeting of April 13th and Special meeting of April 15th were rF~ad and approved. Terminex Mr Walter Mateer appeared for the Texas Terminex Co. with a proposal proposal for the termiting of the City Hall building. Council agreed to go in to the matter and contact Mr Mateer on it at a later date. Harris Bus Mr H.F. Truelock appeared before the Council for the Harris Bus Line Lane pr,QQposin~ bus service to the nearby ship yards. This matter was~~Ee$ under consideration at a later date and Council agreed to advise Mr Truelock of their decision in a few days. Corres- City Secretary read a letter from Mayor Pickett of Houston. pondenee botion by Johnson,second by Norris that this letter be placed Pickett on file. Carried. Univ. of Secretary read a letter from the Investment office of the LTni- Te$as varsity of Texas asking for a copy of the City's latest audit. On motion by Hohnson,seaond by N rris, City Secretary was in- structed to write Mr Jack G. Taylor,Investment Analyst, that a copy of the audit would be on file in the City off ice or that a questionnaire from them would be ansvrered. Carried. City ^.P~arshal~ecretary read a letter faom the City Marshall on his ca.r al- lowanee. 4~otion by Kerber, second by Johnson, that action on this communioation be held over until the next meeting of the Council. Carried. Rousey bill Motion by Johnson, second by Roark, that the Bill ~f Clifford Rousey for typewriter fobs and supplies, in the amount of ~38.OG be paid and that +Yarrant No. 5118 to the Gillette Pub. Co. for mater ,Sewer Magazine subscription be ratified. Carried. Alderman Agee came in to the meeting at this point. Letters Iota; orb Ruff presented two letters from himself to the Cit3T Council, Ruff one on the matter of the purchase of the Bayshore Park water lines and the other on the drainage of 3rd St. with the cooperation of the County. Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that these let- ters be placed on file for future reference. Carried. v, . • , i 1 Water Deposits Alderman Agee presented the question of the City requiring deposits on all applications for water service from the City water system. Motion by Roark, second, by Kerber that the question of deposits on water connections be turned over to the ~Yater Committee to re- port at the next meeting. Carried. Info. Wel~ 1 The Mayor presented information on the recent repairs made on Well No. 1. "lotion by Johnson, second by Dorris that this information be placed on file. Carried. Civilian The Mayor presented a letter on the School for Civilian Defense at Defense A & M College.lotion by Agee, second by Johnson that this letter be placed on file. Carried. "2 pipe and install Pdotion by Agee, second by Kerber, that the City buy enough 2" pipe to give incr®ased water pressure in the line fron Block 1~7 to Block 225, La Porte. Carried. Raise A~otion by Roark, second by Age®, that the salary of the Assistant City Secrete ry, Miss Annie Christensen, be raised from X60.40 to X70.00 per month, beginning May 1st, 19l~2. Carried. Discontinue "lotion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the City discontinue the services of Mr L. Heinsheimer on flay lst,19l.42. Carried. Painting "lotion by Agee, second by Johnson, that the mattsr of painting of the City streets and fire plugs for angle parking be turned over to the Street & Alley Committee. Carried. Parking The Fire Chief appeared before the Council in the interest of having Theatre a smaller parking spans opening in front of the Port Theatre. :lotion by Norris, second by Johnson, that the Council instruct the City Attorney to prepare a resolution on changing the size of the opening for no parking in front of the Port Theatre. Carried.
