CITY COUNCIL MEETING

POSTPONED FROM JUNE 22ND
.Meeting was palled to order by T~iayor Ruff with the following
Aldermen and City Offioials present: J.N. Johnson,J.H. Berber,
C.F.Norris,J.J. Roark, City Atty.Kiit~ler, City Sec~S.Lambly•
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
County Eng. Joe B. Winston, Sanitary Engineer for the Harris County Health
Sanitation Unit and Dr Cherry of the Harris County staff appeared before
the City Council to discuss the matter of a City Dump for the
City which would be adequate and not be a sanitary menace to ad-
3aasnt property also to offer their assistanoa in any City problems
in water, sewer and sanitation.:
Trailer The City Secretary presented a letter from Ike Ashburn, Director of
Hitch Units Civilian Defense in regard to the trailer hitched units outlining
the type of trucks required, Motion by Norris second by Johnson that
the Seoretary be instructed to write ~I[r Bshburn that the City does
not have the type of equipment mentioned and that Counoil xould be
interested only in the trailer hitoh units. Carried.

Paving Secretary presented a letter from Parker Bros. on the asphalt-
Port Theatre ooated shell paving to be done in front of the Port Theatre.
A4otion by Norris second by Johnson that a copy of the letter be
sent to Mr R. Honeyoutt and that his ~heak in the amount of ~3 0.00
be returned to him. Carried.
Ord.Water The Mayor presented an Ordina.nee on the payment of ti'~ater bills,
Bills Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that Ordinance No• 298,being
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A CASH DEPOSIT TO SECURE PAYMENT OF WATER
BILLS; PRESCRIBING THE TIME FOR PAYMENT THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR
DISCONTINiTANCE OF i~1ATER SERVICE FOR FAILURE TO PAY BILLS PROMPTLY
AND REQUIRING A RECONNECTION FEE; REPEALING PARTS OF ORDINANCE NO•
259 IN CONFLICT THEREWITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY be passed as
read. Carried.
Letters The Seoretary was instructed to write letters to all moving aontraat-
ors Anclosing a copy of Ordinance No.??6.
Bonds The Seoretary reported that four 8efense Bonds Series F in the amount
Series F of X1,000.40 each had been received from the First National Bank and
had been filed in the City Offio®.
Affidavit Secretary reported that proper affidavit of the printing of Ordin-
ance No. 296 had been received and placed on file.

Accts.Payable Seoretary reported that the amount of X25.69 in Aoaounts Payable,
Char ge off H.B. Harrison Real Esthte ~'caount representing the differenoe in
penalty and interest computed on County and School taxes when pro-
perty ~ purchased and when taxes were actually paid, should be
charged off. Motion by Kerber,seaond by Norris, that the amount
oP X25.69 in H.B. Harrison Real Estate Account be properly charged
off. Carried.
Budget The ..Mayor presented the proposed Budget far the fiscal year of April
1,19I.N2 t o Mash 31,19,3.
Motion by Roark,second by Johnson, that this proposed budget be ac-
oepted~ filed in the office of the City Seoretary for inspection by
the public, that a public hearing be held on August 10,19l~2 at the-City
Hall at La Porte,Teaas at 8s00 P.~. and that proper notice of such
hearing be published in the official nexspaper. Carried,
Shell ~dotion by Johnson,seaond by Norris, that the City order 50 yards oP
mud shell from Hgrton & Horton. for patching. Carried.
On motion by Johnson,seaond by Rorris and carried by those present
the meeting adjourned.
