Meeting Baas called to order by Mayor Ruff, with the following Alderxien and City officials present: J.B. Johnson, Jack Berber, C.F. Norris, J.J. Roark, City Atty. Biibler, Asst. Secretary Christensen. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Bills Motion by Roark, second by Norris, that the following schedule of bills in the amount of $395.74 be allowed and ordered paid. Geo. H. Bills Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that the balance of the .~merican La Rranoe Foau-ite Corp. bill in the ~ncount of X4.20, the Humble Service Station bill in the amount oP $11.33, the Southwestern Bell Tel. Co. bill in the amount of X17.00 and the refund to HOLC on E. P. Allen's taxes in the amount o£ $9.58 be paid and the F.W. Heitman bill in the amount of X9.17 be held up until further investigation is made. Carried. Allen tax Motion by Johnson, second by Roark, that the refund to HOLC on Refund E, P. Allen's taxes in the amount oP X9.58 be paid out of the funds as listed: General Fund, $3.25, Int. & Skg. Bond Fund,$5.75, Int. & Skg. Sewer Fdg. Hond Fd.,~0.58. Carried. Corp. Court Motion by Norris, second by Johnson, that the Corporation Court Report R®port as presented by the Mayor for the Month of August, 1942, be accepted and ordered Piled, and May~cr's fees paid. Carried. Over 11~ ~,~k Find Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that the fine of Levi Spencer, Docket No• !>.~y6, be accepted as follorns that the ~la..'jg be approved and the ~2.2y be cancelled. Carried. Fuller's Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that the Mayor be given the Earth authority tai order a car load of Fuller's Earth and also same shell to a-ix With it. Carried. Elec. License The Secretary reported that the X15.00 check of A.C. Merchants fees given to cover Electrioian~s License Fee was not good, also that his time on repairing traffic light for City had been turned in but not paid for. Secretary asked for instructions. Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that Pfeiffer Electrio~-Co• be refunded their pro rata as per minutes of August 10, 19Li2, and that t?-~e pro rata part which A.C. Merchant should pay be computed and bill submitted. Carried. 19l~2 Eax The Secretary reported that the 191x2 Tea Roll had been composted Roll With valuations of ~1,56~,272.00, and taxes in the amount of ~23,1,~65.71, to be collected as of October 1, 191x2. Motion by Roark second by Norris, that the follaWing resolution be adopted: -RESOLUTION Rhereas, the City Council has examined the City of La Porte tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor and Collector and found such record to be correct; NOW, THEFEFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA FORTE that the tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor do Collector bf and is hereby approved as the City Tax Record for the year 19IN2 and the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby in- structed to collect the taxes in accordance With such record. And it is so ordered. Carried. Ordinance Potion by xoark, second by Johnson, that Ordinance No• 302 being No. 302 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY, ASSESSb9ENT AND COLLECTION OF AN AD VALOREM TAX FOR THE YEAR 19lp2, OF AND AT THE RATES OF X1.50 ON EACH X100.00 VALUATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF LA FORTE FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST ON, AND A SINKING FUND FOR THE REDE~dPTION OF,MCITY OF LA FORTE REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1935" AND "CITY OF LA PATE SEVER FUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1938"' AND FOR PAYING CURRENT EXPENSES B0, SAID CITY, be passed as read. j, Carried. Barometer The Fire Chief appeared before the Council asking permission to purchase a barometer to be placed in the Fire Station. The Mayor appointed Afid. Kerber to investigate,With Mr. Wilson, the cost and the griority needed to purchase a barometer. ~itah Motion by Johnson, second by Kerber, that C.F.
