Ruff, with the following Aldermen and City Officials present: J.N. Johnson, J.H. Rorber, C.F. Norris, City Atty. Riibler, City Secretary Lambly. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Bretschneider for Intere~ penalties and interest to bb waived on delinquent taxes on Lot l~ do Impts, Blook Oak grove, Bayshora Park, as shown by a statement sub- ati.tted to Mr Bretschneider on Jan. 26,19l~3. b3otion by Norris second by Johnson, that the City Secretary be instructed to write Mr Bret- schneider that the City Council cannot waive penalties and interest on delinquent property. Carried. Sign at The matter of the dangling sign at the Sullivan stdtcco building on Sullivan Main street, concerning which Mr Norris had written a letter to Mr Bldg. Sullivan, was presented. Motion by Norris, second by Johnson that the City employees be instructed to remove the sign. Motion by Johhson, second by Kerber that Ordinance No. 301, being 3C°-~ AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING REGULATORY MEASURES PERTAINING TO EXTENSION ANDlOR CONSTRUCTION OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING THAT NO PERMITS SHALL BE ISSUED AND NO WATER AND SEWER CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MADE IN VIOLATION THEREOF; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY be adopted as read. Carried. Sp~~ial Alderman Kerber reported for the Police Committee on the hiring of Police Special Police Officers, recommending that it be left to the City Oi'icors Couneil• The Council asked L.E. Erwin to suggest a scale of pay that would be acceptable and report how Speoial Police duties could work in with regular work of L~:E. and R. Era~rin. After some discussion Alderman Johnson offered the follaaring motion,seoond by Norris, that the City appoint L.E. and Raleigh Erwin as Deputy City Marshalls at X1.00 for each oall after the regular vrorking hours and at,~0'•8~~ per hour for each hour after the first hour on duty. Carried. Burrough's Motion by Norris, second by Kerber that the Burroughs Adding btachine Ceni;ract contract be held over until the newt meeting. Carried. Storags~ Motion by Johnson,second by Norris, that the City Secretary be per- mitted to purchase storage boxes for Corporation Court Repobts Bv:;os Carried. ~'-:.;~~ ~_, ~'ot~wlty The Mayor presented a letter from Dr C.P. Brokaw, 1st Nat. Bank Bldg., .• In~-eYS~t Houston,Texas, asking that penalties and interest be waived on Lots 32 & 33, Block 59,La forte, on which delinquent taxes have accumulated. Motion by Johnson, second by Kerber that the City Seoretar y be inst r- u~ted to write Dr Brokaw that the City Counoil cannot waive penalties and interest on delinquent taxes. Carried. Office de -Motion by Norris, second by Kerber, that the office of C.M..Agee,Ald- cla~ed erman, be declared vacant. The Mayor asked for a voice vote which vt?cant resulted as follows: Johnson, yes, Norris,Yes, Kerber, Yes. The D4ayor declared the motion carried.
