Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following Aldermen and City Officials present: Ald. J. N. Johnson, J. J. Roark, T. F. Smith, City Atty. Kiibler, Asst. Secy. Christensen. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. oFireaen's Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that the annual premium on Insurance Firemens Accident and Health Policy, in the amount of X138.00, be renewed and bill paid. Carried. Affidavit Mayor and Asst. Secretary presented proper affidavi$ on burning Bonds of Bonds as follows: City of La Porte Refundin Bonds numbered Twenty-Six(26), Twenty-Seven(27), Twerity~ight~28) and Twenty- Nine(29) each in the princi;~al sum of One Thousand Dallara(~1,000.88) dated October 10, 1934 and duo tipril 10, 19.3, 1~.D. Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the above affidavit be placed on file. Carried. ~~ Application The Asst. Secretary presented and read an application for Special :::','~ Spec. Officer ~oliee Officer for the City from Howard W. Smith. Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that this applicatio be placed on file. Carried, Spec. Officer Motion by Roark, second by Smith, that it be left to the Police Committee to investigate applications for Special Police Officer far the City and that the City Attorney be instructed to look up the legal status on the hiring or appointing of. Special Officer. Carried. Salary Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the salary of Speoial Sped. Officer Police Officer for the City of La Porte be X150.00. Carried. No. 2 Well 'lotion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the City authorize the lo~;rering of pump on No. 2 well as outlined by City Engineer Kelly. Carried. Office help. Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that a Committee be appoi~ed to contact some one to assist in the City Secretary's Office at a salary of X100 .00 per month. Carried. Committee The Mayor appointed T. F. smith, J. J. Roar~,J. N. Johnson, to act on the committee and the City Attorney to assist th©m. '~~ ~~~ Raise .. Motion by Johnson, seoond by Smith, that the salary of the Assistant Asst.Secy Secretary be raised from X100.00 to $115.00 per month retroactive to ~'•'~y 15, 1943 • ~~.. Ordinance M.-otion by Johnson, second by Smith, that Ordinance No. 306 being No. 306 - AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL SHALL ACT AS THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR THE YEAR 1~I;Gfi; FIXING THE TIMES OF THE ZdEETTNG OF SUCH BOARD; PROVIDING gHAT THE CITY SECRETARY SHALL ACT AS SECRETARY OF SUCH BOARD AND DECLARING AN EI~:9ERGENCY, be adopted as read.
