Meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro=j'em. J. N. Johnson,
with the following Aldermen and City officials present: Ald.
J. J. Roark, J. R. Kerber, T. F. smith, City Atty. Kiibler,
City Secretary Christensen
.Tiinutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Correspond- The Secretary presented a letter from J. M. Kellett, Jr., dated
ence-Taxes November 24, 1943, in regard to the valuation on Lots 13 to 16,
Block 131, La Porte.
Motion by Roark, Second by Smith, that the valuation of this
property be leFt as fixed by the City Equalization Board. and
that the City Secretary be instrueed to write I~1r. Kellett to
this effeot.

Correspond- The Secretary also presented a letter from C. V. Milligan, dated
enee-Taxes November 13, 1943, in regard to his taxes. This letter was ordered
placed on file.
Check on The Secretary presented a check, in the amount of -X120.50, from
~, Si~orm Dartia~;e Trezovant & Cochrani Insurance General Agents, Dallas, Texas,in
i, 1: payment of The zty s claim for windstorm damages on the City
'~~ Building on Lots 20 & 21, Block 39, La Porte.

check in payment of windstorm damages.

telephone The Secretary presented 32 cents from the Southwestern Bell Telephone
Cor~rn.ission Co., as commission due the City on collections from telephone in
the C ity Iia 11.
Motion by Roark, second by Smith that this amount be accepted.

Pecik;natan t4otion by Kerber, second by Smith, that the City Council accept
the resignation of Ral~i~h as Deputy Marshall, effective immediately.

Pgiotion by Kerber, second by Smith, that the Street & Alley Committee..
be appointed to investigate the prices of asphalt.
Carried.
Motion by S'r-ith, second by koark, that the City Secretary be
authorized to issue a Vdarrant in the amount of X100.00 for Firemen's
Prize Money.
Carried.
1943 tax The Secretary reported that the 1943 Tax Roll had been co:~pleted
~' roll with valuations of X1,56$,177.00, and taxes in the amount of
X23,522.66, to be collected as of October 1, 1943. Motion by Roark,
second by Smith, that the following resolution by adopted;

R solution Whereas, the City Council has examined the City of La Porte
e tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor and Collector and found
such record to be correct;
NO~~f, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL @F THE CITY OF
LA PORTE that the tax record prepared by the City Tax Assessor &
Collector be and is hrerby approved as the City Tax Record for the
year 19l~3 and the City Tax Assessor end Collector is hereby in-
structed to collect the taxes in accordance with such record.

gratis who are oaeupying the Gordon Ellis building on Main Street be given
water service free gratis, the same as other Church Orgainzations
in I.a Porte,
