~ LA PORTS CITY COITTiCIL
DECEMBER 27, 19L~.3, 10:00 A.M.
Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following
l~,dermen and City Off icials presents Ald. M. D. Burgin, J. T1.
Johnson, J. H. Kerber, J. J. Roark, T. F. Smith, City Atty.
Kiibler, City Secretary Christensen.
hSinutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved.
Rumor A group of La Porte citizens appeared before the City Council
Chief of concerning a rumor which had been started that Chief of Police,
Police Howard ~"l. Smith, was to be fired at the meeting of the Council,
and asked that every condideration be given T.2r. Smith. They
were informed by Mayor Ruff and the Council that anything that
would be done would take place as a regular meeting of the Coun-
cil which is open to the public.
?unicipal The Seoretary presented a letter froi:~ Bdun~i~ipal Supply Co.,dated
5up ly Co. December hi, 19t~.3, stating that the P+iunicipal Supply Co. which is
le~t~er
owned and operated by R. J. Quinn and P. C. Bankhead, both con-
nected with. Dunlay Armand Co. for the past several years is now
open for business as distributers of i+~Iueller products.
?;Iotion by Roark, second by Johnson, that this letter be placed
on file. '

Cecil Faris T;Ze Secretary presented a letter from Cecil Faris, Secretary and
letter Treasurer, Z?ayors and Councilmen Association, advising that the
regular meeting of the T~:IAyors and Councilmen Association, scheduled
for December would not be held and regular meeting in Jarnxary to
be held with Humble as Host City, and advising that the annual
dues for the Association,in the amount of X75.00 are now due.
`lotion by Roark, second by Burgin, that this letter be placed on
file.

Tire-grader The Mayor turned the matter of purchase of tires for the grader
over to the Street ~ Alley Committee.
Report The Mayor asked for a report from the Building Comrnitte on the
~1dg.Comrn. repair oi' the City Building on Lots 21 & 22, Block 39, La. Porte.
Ald. Johnson reported that Mr. Cowley would get to this job as
sons as possible.
Report The ?~.4ayor also asked for a report from the "ewer Co:.unittee on
Sewer Comm. extension in Block 197, la Porte and Ald. Smith reported that
dir. Bell of Brown & Root had been contacted and was to contact
ttie City on this matter.

Bonds- Motion by Smith, second by Burgin, that the City pay for bonds for
1~ux. Police- la Auxiliary Policemen of the ~'~ty. ~~'
