Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following Aldermen and City Officials presents Ald. M. D. Burgin, T. F. Smith, J. J. Roark, City Atty. Biibler, City Seoy. Christensen. The May®r stated that the purpose of the meeting was to call the Annual City Election. The Mayor read the following Election Order: Election Be it ordered by the Mayor and City Council of La P©rte, Order Texas that the annual election be held at the City Hall Build- ing in said City eP Im P©rte, on the 4th day of ~-pril, .A. D., 1944, for the purpose of electing tin s~embers to the Board of Aldermen, the Mayer, the City Secretary and Tax Assessor and Collector and the City Marshal oP said City. It is further ordered that ~.R. Motion. by Burgin, sec@nd by Smith that the election order b~ passed as read. Carried . The Mayor also read the following resolutions Resolution Be it resclved by the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, that all candidates Per office, at the City election fio be held en the 4th day of April, A.D. 191.4 shall file their applications Per their names to be placed on the official ballot, with the Mayer of said City nat later than twelve e•clock nid- night of the 24th day eP March, A.D. 191x4 central war tixe, the same being at least tan (till days prior t0 the date oP said electi®s, anti further, that the name of no person shall be placed on the efficialbwllot unless his application hoe been filed at er prior to twelve o•clock midnight of the 24th day of March, A.D. 1944 central war time, and it is sn ordered. Motion by Burgin, aeeand by Smith, that the Resolution be passed as read. Carried. Motion by Roark, second by Burgin, that the meeting adjourn.
