Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that City of j'a Yorte Sewer Improvements Warrants Nos. 1 to 12, esoh i.n the print ipal sum of ~1, 000.00, dated Mqy l~, 19l~.3, with Interest Coupons attached, also Nos. 13, ~ & 15 which were not issued, be turned over to the Matiyor and City Secretary to be destroyed by fire in the presence of the City Council and that proper affidavit of this action be presented at City Counoil meeting . Southwestern The Secretary presented a check in the am®unt of X157.62 from the Bell Telephsrie Southwestern Bell T~glephone Co., in payment of .Taxes on Gross Receipts Co., Gress Re- due the City of j'a arts, Texas for period frame January 1, 19l~.3 to eeipts tax Decembes• 31, 1913, together With annual report ftrr year ended Decemzber 31, 19!{3. Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the City accept the Southwestern. Bell Telephone Camipany's check, that the repaa~t be placed on file and official receipt issued to the Telephone C©~ Carried. • 2~9 ~lectisx The Mayor presented the report of the City Election held ~Pa~ April 1~, 191.~.a. at the City Hall, as follows ::: For Mayor to serve two years Fred R. Ruff 296 votes F. P. Bartley 275 votes For Aldermen to serve two years: Rufus Honeycutt 279 votes P. L. Benson 351. votes George F. Norris 3?1 votes For City Secretary to serve two years: Annie Christensen 5?3 votes For Marshal to serve two years: Raleigh Erwin 563 votes Total votes cast 581 Motion by-Roark, se-coed by Smith, that Fred R. Ruff for Mayor, P. L. Benson and George F. Norris for Aldermen, Annie Christens en ,r„ for City Secretary and Raleigh Erwin for ~darshe.]., -the candidates receiving the highest number of votes, be declared elected to serve for two years and that the election returns be placed on file. Carried. Mayor Ruff extended his thanks and appreciation to the retiring Aldermen for their cooperation during their term of office. Oaths •f Uffice The newly elected officials were sworn in and administered the oath of office by City Attorney Kiibler. Motion by Roark, second by Kerber, that the m®®ting adjourn. Carried. The new City Council was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following Aldermen and City officials present: Ald. M. D. Burgin, J. N. Johnson, T. F. Smith, George F. Norris, F. L. Benson, City Atty. Kiibler, City Secy. Christensen. Mayor Ruff congratulated the newley elected officials and asked $t~r their support and cooperation in administering the affairs of the City. The newly elected Aldermen, as well as the old, pledged theft full cooperation and support. May~re & ~~ux- Mayor Ruff announced that the n®xt meeting of the Harris County eilmeas Assn.
