P~+I. D. Burgin, Geo. F. Norris, T. F. Smith., P. L. & nson, City atty. Kiibler, City Secretary Christensen. Minutes of the last meeting were re~.d and approved, Bill I~otion by Benson, second by Burgin, that the bill from Dan Gates in the amount of X38.08 for labor and materi~.l for building bridge at 7th and T,~ain ST. be ordered paid. Carried. Bill Motion by Burgin, second by Smith, that the bill from Federal ~.boratories, Tne., in the amount of ~30.1;1.a, for Invoice ~-68195 ' , in the amount of X2 .25 and Invoice ~ 6592. in the. amount of X28.19 and. which was withheld from Howard '1~t. Smitht s salary be paid to Federal Laboratories, Inc. Carried. Letter The Secretary read a letter from the General Committee in charge - of the 1~th of July Rodeo and other activities, asking the Cityts ' cooperation in granting permission for the erection of a speaker's ~~ . ..: platform and reviewing stand on A:4ain St. l;.th of July Motion by Benson, second by Smith, that the City designate the A.etivities block from 1st St. to Five Points for the Z~th of July activities. Carried. The Mayor read the following resolution: Resolution ~ VIHEREAS, The Cit;r of La torte has heretofore passed and approved Ordinance No. 261, regulating traffic upon the public streets off' the City of La Porte; and t~IHER~AS, such Ordinance provided that the City Council , shall, by resolution, determine and designate the character of all official traffic signs and signals and shall designate the location where the same shall be installed; NOVf, THEREFORE, BE IT REVOLVED BY THE CITY COUP?CIL OF THE CITY OF LA PURTE, TEAS, THAT The standind or parking of any vehicle on South First Street ~hd South Second Street from West ~mn Street South to the first alley intersection of such Streets is hereby prohibited except when parked at an angle of 45 degrees on the operators right hand side of the roadway, with the right hand front wheel of such vehicle within six ine~es of the curb or edge of said roadway; The standing or parking of any vehicle on North First Street and North Second Street from Vilest Main Street North to +,he first alley intersection of such Streets is hereby prohibited except when parked at an angle of 1~5 degrees on the operator's right hand side of the roadvray, with the right hand front wheel of such vehicle with- in six inches of the curb or edge of said roadway; The police Committee is hereby authorized and instructed to 2~2 properly mark and sign the hereinabove mentioned streets or road- ways with "!~5 degree angle parking" signs. And it is so ordered. Motion by Burgin, second by Smith, that the Resolution be passed as read. Carried. L. P' Volun- Motion by Burgin, second-by Smith, that the 0ity renew the La Porte teer Firemen's Volunteer Firemen's Accident Policy with Benefits increased to Insurance ~~000.00 principal sum, with X20.00 weekly indemnity with the Hospital Indemnity Rider added; amount of premium, $139.20. Carried. Bids P;Zotion by Burgin, second by 1`'orris, that the bids on the preparation of a delinquent tax record be opened.. Carried. Bids were opened and tabulated as follows: ~T. J. Tapp, X1,000.00 and W. K. Chapman and Carl S. Smith, X989.00 Motion by Burgin, Second by Smith, that the contract for the setting up of a delinquent tax record be awarded to tip. g~ Chapman and Carl S, 5~'th on their bid of X989.00. Carried. Taxicab Mr. Petty appeared before the Council in regard to the operation of a taxicab in the City. Motion by Burgin, second by Norris, that Mr. Petty be allowed to ~~ operate a taxicab in the City according to recorunendations set up by the City Council, that the permit fee be X15.00 and semi-annual inspection fee be X7.50 and that a taxicab Ordinance be drawn up at a later date.
