Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following Aldermen and City officials present: Ald. P. L. Benson, J. N. Johnson, T. F. Smith, City Atty. Kiibler, City Seay. Sharp. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved Applicatie:as The following applications i'i1~ Peace Officer were presented Peace officer and read: J. L, Buroh, James E. Polk, Je.s.F. DeLawder, Oscar Denton. The Mayor appointed the members of the Counoil present to meet with Geo. F. Norris, Chariman of Polioe Committee t® investigate these applieatior_s with power to act. St. & alley The Anayor appointed the Street and Alley Committee to meet Cemm. ~ppeinted with Jas, E. Polk in regard to cleaning brush out of Deer Creek. Drainage & The Street and Alley Committee was appointed by the Mayor to Culverts investigate drainage and culverts on Broadway in front of Dr. Sandel's property. i Ord. iya, 315 ~; Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that ORDINANCE N0. 315, being AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE DRILLING, COMPLETION AND ' OPEFiATI0P1 OF OIL AND GAS ~IELLS TRIITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY IN CON>`ECTION THEREWITH, PROVIDING A FENALTY FOR VIOLATION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,~1S lpproved on its first reading . Carried. n Traffic Lt. M©tion by Smith, second by Benson, that if the City Traffic light which is not in use is benefiatal to the sohool that it be 1®aned to th®m. Carried. alderman Smith reported that owners of oars on 7th. 6t• had been notified to move them but that they had not been moved. Lease Alderman Smith also reported that J. ~. Hovey would pay X2.00 per year for leasing Lots 17 to 2Ia., B1eok 135, La Porte and sign an agreement that he would remove Tenses with three or feur~days notice. Motion by Benson, second by Johnson, that the City Attorney write up an agreement on leasing of Leta 17 to 2l~., Block 135, La Porte, to J. W. Hovey. Carried. Parked Cars Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the City Secretary '~ write letters to owners of cars, parked on 7th Street , re- questing that these cars be moved.
