Kiibler, City ~tecretary Sharp. Mixiutes •f the last meeting were read and approved. Bill Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that the bill .from Magnolia Petroleum Co., in the amount •f X15.85 be allowed and •rdered paid. Carried. Salser,taxes The Secretary read a letter from R. E. Salser, Boa 18, New Willard, Texas in regard t• his delinquent taxes. Motion by Roark, second by $nith,,that this letter be planed on file and that the Secretary be instructed to write iir. Salser advising him that he would be notified again before any action is taken •n the matter. Carried. Corporation The Mayor presented the Corporation Court Report from March 1 Court Report to March 31, 1945• Motion. by Jshnsoa, second by Smith, that the Corporation Court ~ Report as presented by the Mayor be accepted and Mayor's fees ,~' paid. Carried. Bonds Motion by Johnson,sseeoni by Smith,that the Police Bond •f J. E. Johnson and taxicab bond •f Bill Jones be accepted and placed on file. Carried. R. G. wills, Mr. a. G. dills representing the J. R~ Phili3~s Investment Phillips Inv. Co• appeared before the Council and presented a proposal for C®. finaneimg $25,000.00 tax bomds to finance certain improvements withixi the City o£ La Porte, Texas. porposal Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that the City accept the accepted proposal •f the J. R. Phillips Investment Co. as presented t• the City Council, a copy •f which proposal is attached here- to and becomes a part if these~nfiautes and that the Mayor axd City Secretary be authorized to sign said propoaal for the City ~e~al Service Motion by koark, second by Smith, that C. D. Jessup be employed by the City t• handle the legal services in connection with construction •f water well and estensions t• water system, for fee •f X375.00, which may be paid ost •f $25,000.00 City of La Porte Improvements Warrants. Therefore, ae_:.propase to purohase legally issued City •£ La Porte Improvement. Warrants in the amou:rt of X25,00® at par and scorned interest far warrants bearing interest at the rate •f 1 per Dent per aanum awd maturixg $1,000 eaoh year, beginning in 19J~6. We agree t• make payment far these warrants as funds are Headed and to hold them until they can be refunded int• an issue •f refunding bands •f like amount and maturities and bear- ing interest at the rate •f; 3f on all bands due first lO years, ~~ an all bands after 10 years, optional on and after 10 years Prom their date. We will pay far the priYting of bath the warrants and the refunding bands and far the expenses •f exohangixg the warrants arsd the registratiaa •f the refunding bonds. IT IS THEREFORE 08DERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF I.A FORTE, TEXAS I That the plates aad specifications for bot~•~~these proposed improvements prepared separately by C. H. Kelly, Engineer, be, axd they are hereby, approved. II That the City Couxcil •f the City of La Porte does hereby declare its iatextion to construct axd equip a water well for said city , als• t• coxstruct extensions to the water system(is:clucixg a sand trap) for said city, aad to make payment therefor by the issuance •f time warrants in the maximum amopat •f not exceeding ~25,000.00(for both •f these improvements), aad bearing ixterest at the rata •f not exceeding !~ per annum, aad maturing serially over a period not exceeding 25 years from thetf~ date.
