LA PORTS CITY COUNCIL

Meeting was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following
Aldermen and City Officials present: Ali. J. N. J®hason,
P, L~ Benson, Geo. F. Norris, J. J. Roark, T. F. Smith,
City Atty. Kiibler, City Secretary Sharp.
Minutes of the last regular meetixig of July ~, 1945 and
Special meeting of July 13, 1945 were read and approved.
Letter-ODT The Mayor read a letter from the ODT im regard to the
.issuance of a special permit for an additi®nal taxicab for
the City.
Taxicab- Metisn by Benson, second by Johns®n, that Wm. P.(Bill) Jones
Ixspectien Fee be notified about the letter from ODT and that he be advised
to register with the City and take care of inspection fee
and permit and furnish the City with the name aad address
of operatsr and description of vehicle to be used.
Carried.
Amendment- The City Atterxey was imstructcd by the Council to write
Dog Ord. an amendment to the Deg Ordinance to be approved at the
next Council meeting.
it Post War Work ~'• Pauls from Louis Pauls & Co., Galveston, Texas appeared
before the Council in regard to a financing program for Pest
War Work, and was advised that the Council wsuld oheck ®n
improvements desired and advise him as to their plan..
Special Meet- The Mayor issued a pall for a Special meeting for Wednesday
ing eight, July 25, 1945 at 7:3~ P. M. fsr the purpose of
discussing the apportionments to be levied on 1945 taxable
property.
Resolution Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the following
resolution be adopted:
VQHEREAS, heretofore, the Mayor of the City of La Porte
prepared and submitted to the City Ceuneil, at its regular
meeting held en the 25th day of June, A. D. 191.;.5, his proposed
budget for the fiscal year, April 1, 191x.5 to Maroh 31, 1946, and,
UiHEREAS, the City Ceu~-cil filed such proposed budget with
the Secretary of the City en the 25th day of June, A. D. 1945,
and designated that a public hearing en such budget be held at
the City Hall at 8:00 P. M. en July 23, A. D. 1945, and paused
public aetice of such hearing to be made; and,
WHEREAS, such public hearing has been held, it is there-
fore ordered by the Council that the budget, as prepared and sub-
mitted by the Mayor, is hereby finally approved by the City
Ceuneil and it is hereby ordered that a true e®py of such approved
budget, together with a copy of this order, shall b e filed in
each of the offices of the Secretary of the City of La Porte, the
County Clerk of Harris County, Texas and the State Comptroller,
at Austin, Texas

Tax Netiees Motion by Roark, second by Johxsex, that the City Secretory be

Polio Drive Metiex by Beiaaom, second by Roark, that the City contact the
Couxty Health f}ffiaer and Ceuxty Commissioner Ruth Turrentin~,
for axy assistance they can give in the Pelie drive, also t•
work with the City Health Officer axd that £l~e' City ~3eeretary

in back sf his store.

Coxtracts- Motion by Roark, second by Johnson, that the Mayor and City
Texas Water Secretary be authorized to sign the csxtracts with Texas Water
Wells ~ Brewx Wells, Inc. en Water Well #3, and Brown & Rost en Water System
& Roet Ertessioxs. ~

Sewer E. A. Thomas appeared before the Ceunail in regard to the con-
ditien •f the sewer near his property. The Mayor turned this
matter over t• the Sewer-Committee txd City Engineer t• investi_
gate and make recsrrunendati0ns.
