Motion by Norris, second by Smith, that the letter from J. M. Ke11et,Jr. in regard to delinquent taxes on Lots 13 to 16, Block 131, La Porte, be tabled for fur~Cher investigation. Carried. The Secretary presented a check in the amount o£ X217.57 from the 363 Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in payment of gross receipts tax due the City of La Porte for period from January 1, 191.5 to December 31, 1945• Motion by koark, eeeond by Johnson, that this oheok be accepted and an"official receipt issued to the Telephone Co. Carried. The ?•Zayor adked the,t the returns of the City Election held on April 2, 1946 be canvassed. The Election reports were presented as r'ollo~rs: For Mayor to serve two years: Fred R. Ruff '259 votes Jas. S. Crate "236 votes For Aldermen to serve two years: B. F. Hoot 38 votes N. A, Johnson 174 votes J. L. Dunham 254 votes Geo. F. Norris 258 votes Rea J. Baker 176 votes For City Seoretary to serve two years: Mrs. Harold H. Sharp 1.80 votes Rev. Kermit - 1 vote For Marshal to serve t~do years: E. A. (Buok) Thomas 1.21 votes Jas. F. DeLawder 75 votes Total votes cast 505 Motion by ~Tohnson,:aeeond by Smith, that Fred R. Ruff for Mayor, Geo. F. Norris and J. L. Dunham for Aldermen, Mrs. Harold H. Sharp for City Secretary s~.nd T;A. (Buck) Thomas for Marahal,the oandidates receiving the highest number of votes, be declared elected to serve for two years and that the election returns be placed on file. Carried. The newlg elected off3,aials were sworn in and administered the oi~ths of office. Motion by~Jok:nson, second by Smith, that the meeting ad3ourn. Carried. The new City Council-was called to order by Mayor Ruff with the following Aldermen and_City officials present: Ald. J. N. Johnson, Geo. F. Norris, J. J. koark, T. ~'. with, J.
