Idinutes of the last regular meeting of April 23, 19l.~6 and Special meeting of b'!ay 8, 1946 were read and aprroved. Bills lotion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the following sohedule of bills in the amount of X909.83 be allowed and ordered paid, with the exception of bill of Johnnie Thornton for ~l~7.20 for• sewer line extension which is to be held up for investigation of contract by the Council ar_d. if found to be correct bill to be paid, also that the bills of the Houston Lighting & Power Co. in tick amount of X182.62 and Texas mater fells, Inc. in the amount of X89.20 be paid out of ~atcr System ~farrantss American La-France Foami+be Corp. 8.65 ~~. Motion by Roark, second by Smith, that the City accept the oheok from the Houston Natural Gas Corporation. Carried. Audit Report The Secretary presented the audit report for_the fisoal yeor do Bill ending March 31, 194b, together with b~.ll from .Tapp do Crosby for X175.00. Motion by Roark,seoond by Johnson, that this bill be allowed and ordered paid. Carried. Sewer Charge The Mayor brought the matter of a sewer charge before the Council, which matter is to be discussed at a special meeting to be called at a~ later date. Letter on The Mayor presented a letter Prom James A. Benson in regard to exterminating treating and exterminating of City Hall Building at an estimated cost of $_187.50. Motion, by Johnson, second by Smith, that the City ask for bids on exterminating of building and the Secretary be instructed to notify Mr. Benson that bids are being asked for and, that he be requested to su9mnit another bid. Carried. Conneotion Fee Motion by Roark, seoond by Smith, that Mrs. ~. H. Irvin's water pro-rated connection fee on the Bayridge Line in the amount of X500.00 be pro-rated equally to the original owners as per the.Cit~~s contract with these owners. • Carried. Letter head Motion by Johnson, sFOOnd by Smith, that the City Secretary be authorized to order a sufficient supply of letter head. Carried. Financial lotion by Johnson, seoond by Dunham, that that the City's financial atatement statement ~.s of March 31, 191.E.fi be published in the La Porte Reporter, and that A. H. Lambert, publisher, be requested to submit a sohedule of his .rates to the 8ouncil. Carried. Circl at The Mayor appointed the Council to meet with the State Highway Five ~oints Departm~ant in regard to the circle at Five Points. Bible Class, Motion by Dunham, seoond by Roark, that the City allow any Church to hold_Bible Class in the City Hall when building is not in use. Carried. Remove cars Lotion by Roark, second by Smith, that the City Marshal notify the ooeupants of 81Rir Garage and the McMillan Chevrolet Co. to remove the oars from streets. Carried, Fire Marshal The Mayor appointed C. J. Wilson as Fire Marshal for the ensuing term. Raise Fire Chief Wilson arpeared before the Council in regard to a raise, which matter was left to the Council for investigation. Cancelled Bonds The pity Secretary presented four City of La Porte Refunding Bonds 372 Nos. Thirty-eight(38), Thirty-nine(39), Forty(40) and Forty-one (41), each in the principal sum of One Thousand Dollars($1,000) ~ dared October 10, 1931} and due April 10, 1946, one City of La Porte Sewer Funding Bond No. Eight(8) in the principal sum of Five Hundred Dollars(~500) dsted day 10, 1934 and due lpril 10t 1946 and one City Of La Porte Sewer Rafunding Bond No. Three(3) in the principal sum of One Thousand Dollars~~1,000) dated February 1, 191~.~.and due April 10, 1946, paid and cancelled to be burned whic}: bonds were turned aver to the Mayor and City Secretary-to be destroyed by fire in the presence of the Gity Council and that proper affidavit of this action be presented at next Council meeting. ~:otion by Johnson, second by Dunhs.m, that the meeting ad~onrst.
