Meeting was called to order by :Mayor Ruff with the following
Aldermen and City Officials present: Ald. J. N. Johnson, T. F.
Smith, J. L. rhxnham, Geo. F. Norris, City Atty. Kiibler, City
Eng. Kelly, City Secretor;~ sharp.
i~r,nutes of the last regular meeting of June 10, 1916 and Special
meeting of June 1~, 1946 were read and approved.
Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the premiums on bonds
on behalf of Raleigh Erwin, b1rs. Raleigh Erwin and C. J. ~`dilson,
Sr., in the amount of X15.00, be allowed and ordered paid.
Carried.
The Mayor recommended that the motor on-1tr2 well be overhauled
and bearing replaced.
Motion by Norris, second by Smith, that the motor be overhauled
and bearing replaced as recommended by the ~Y[ayor.
Carried.
The matter of the acceptance of ~ 3 well was discussed by the
Council and motion was made by Norris, second by Johnson, not
to accept # 3 well until the Engineer and contractors g;et to-
•:~ gether in regard to the installation of air valve and that the
"Mayor call a special meeting; to meet with the Engineer and
Contractors to make some dispastion of same.
Carried.
Motion. by Johnson, second by Smith, that the City xotify Brown
~ Root to cannel the City's order For ~.0 ycis.. of pea gravel
and that this be ordered from. the hopper.
Carried.
The b7a.yor recommended that an ixvectigation be made on the
furaction.ing of ~2 Lift Station for necessary repairs.
The ~'fayor called a special meeting for June 28, 1g1~6 at 8:00 P. ~~.
to discuss the repairs of # 2 Lift Station.
A number of La Porte citizens were present at the Counoil meeting
for the budget hearing and were called upon by the Mayor for
comments on the budget but no one offered disapproval.

Ald. Dunham stated that he did not approve the budget and that
he rejected it and also advocated a raise in salary for the
Fire Chief. Mr. D~i,lham cuotcd the budget submitted b}t the ~:ayor
as showing an estimated revenue of ~~},180.00 and expenditures
of approximately x°30,000.00 and a surplus of Approximately
X8,000.00, which he stated would justiby a raise for the Fire
Chief, however no action was taken on this.

Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that 2,00 envelotes for
ma lip o t tax notices, 3,600 tax receiots and notices, 10,.000
wa~er ~ard~s and necessary supply of traf~'ic books be purchased,

and bids be asked on printing of tax receipts and water cards.
Carried.
hGotion by Norris, second by Johnson, that bids be tusked on
shelling of approximately one block on Caplen_ Ave. from South
H Street to Pfeiffer St. and approximately one block on Pfeiffer
St. from Caplen Ave. to Park Ave., also alley ir_ Blc;ek 292 from
south H St. to Pfeiffer St.
Carried.
