Benson, in the amount of X187.50 for exterminating of City Lall
Building be paid after building is inspected and work four..d
to be satisfaotory and contract approved.

O'Connor to fill Raleigh Erwin's place on thirty day trial
at ~w175.00 per month.
Carried.
Motion by Johnson, second by ho:.rk, that the ~'ity order a car
load of gravel to be user? on City streets.
Carried.
Lotion by Norris, second by Johnson, thP.t the City accept the
bid of V'rorthington-uamor: Meter Co. for 50 water meters
~1'I.a2 each.
Carried.
Motion by Dunham, second by Norris, that the Sehool be e_llowed

the use of the City's hand power mower.

The Mayor presented a letter from Vinson, Elkins, ~`eems ~:
Francis, Attorneys at Law, dated June 29, 1916 in regard to
delinquent City taxes owed by Garden Oaks Co. for the years
191}2 and 1913 and requesting that the taxes be recalculated
on the basis of the valuation of improvements at 'x1,000.00
instead of X10,000, exclusive of interest ?u penalty.
Motion by Norris, second by Johnson, that the value of
improvements on this property for 1912 and 19Ia.3 be placed
at X5,000.00.
Carried.
lotion by Aoark, second by Johnson, that the agreement
between Reliable Exterminators and the City of La Porte for
services to be rendered for purpose of controlling termites
in City Hall Building be approved and that the Mayor and
City Secretary ~:e authorized to sign said agreement.
Carried.
Motion by Roark, second. by Johnsor_, that the bids on shell
for Pfeiffer Addi$ion and bids for printing of 10,000 water
cards aAd 3,600 tax notices and receipts be opened.
The folf~~wing bids were submitted: For shell, ~. L. Jones,
361#. yards of shell, delivered and planed on street and Alley
and Breaded down for the sum of ~71l~.•50. For printing of
10,000 water cards and printing of 3,,600 tax notices and
receipts, The Daily Sun for water cards $25.00, tax notices
and receipts, X148.00.
Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that the bid. for shell
be awarded to ~`. L. Jones on his bid of X714.50.

Motion by Norris, second by Johnson, that the printins of
10,000 water cards and 3,600 tax notices and receipts be
awarded to the Daily sun on their bid of X25.00 fam vrater
cards and ~~8.00 for tax receipts.
Carried.
Motion by Johnson, second by Norris, that the City Attorney
be authorized to draw up an ordinance to prohibit the sale
and shooting of fire works within the Cit limits with the
exception of. July 14th, Christmas and New ears.
Carried.
Motion by Johnson, second by Roark, that the City send a
representative to A. ~ Pd. College for the Firemen's Training;
School. Carried.
Motion by Roark, second by Norris, that the City offer a bid
of X100.00 for surplus Civilian Defense supplies from Federal
Government.

Motion by Johnson, second by Ihinham, that warrant in the
amount of ~b0.00 be made pays.ble to Fire Chief for el;penses
to A. ~ ~. College for Firemen's Training Sehool.
Carried.
~~otion by .Dunham, second by Johnson, that the Texas Bus Lines
be contacted in regard to changing of bus route into their
station on North 2nd Street.
Carried.
Motion by Norris, second by Johnson, that the meeting ad3ourn.
