Meeting was called to order by 1"'ayor Kuff with the following aldermex and City officials preaent: old. J. N. Johnson, T. F. smith, Geo. F. lvorris, J. L. Lanham, City Witty. Kiibler, city ,ecretary Sharp. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that the dommunication from Federal ~~orks ~igency, dated January 16, 1917, in regard to application for strut and drainage improvements be plACed on file. Carried. ~: Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the following bills in the amount of X118.96 be kllowed and ordered paid: Magnolia Petroleum. Co. 95.9b southwestern Bell Telepho;ae Co. 23.00 La Porte Plumbing Service 2.00 a 11.96 Carried. The Mayor read a letter from George C. Hawley, Chief Engineer, Fire Insuranoe Division, dated January 23, 1947, advising that some immediate action must be taken ir. order to retain the present key rate, also advising that it will be necessary for r©me officie.l in the Fire Department to send in the necessary ' drill report for the months of July, august & September which were due on oetober 1st and for the months of uctober, ivovember and December which were due on January 1st. No action was taken . Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that tho bide on drainage be opened. The following bids were opened; George Cockburn, X1,300.00; w. L. Jones' bid was in error quoting two figure, $1,065 and X1,765.00. Motion by Norris, second by ,mith, that the City secretary oa11 YY. L. Jones to fine out which figure is correct and that the bid on drainage be awarded to the lowest bidder. Carried . Motion by Johnson, second by Smit h, that the City order one load of pea gravel ( 1~ to 6 yds.) Carried. The tdlayor appointed the Street & alley Committee to investigate the pouring of waste oil ir_ City ditch on lath St. by McMillan C,evrolet Co. Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the Rocket ~+iotor Coaches be requested to refrain front blowing horns unnecessarily within the City limits.
