LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION

Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order
by Mayor Pfeiffer with the following members and Officials
present: Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr., City. Clerk J. E.
Muldoon and City Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer to authorize Raleigh
Erwin to pnrch.ase welding equipment for the purpose of
maintaining City property.
Carried.

Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer that ~Iohnnie Thornton's
wage be increased to $1.00 per hour and Asoencion Amaro be
increased to x.90 cents per hour, effective as of May 23, 194.7.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate to authorize Norris and
Stanford to dig ditch from Eleventh Avenun to Twelfth Avenus
same being a new ditch, and refill ®ld ditch, grubb tree,
remove old drainpipe in Alley, remove old pipe on Twelfth
;;,~,, Avenue and South First Street, and furnish and install culvert
pipe for same for the total sum of Two Hundred Ten 0210.00)
dollars.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate that when J. N. King
completes digging ditch at the disposal site, and when same is
approved by Crate that he be paid 0200.00) Two Hundred
dollars as agreed.
Carried.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer that the Surety Bonds
of J. E. Muldoon, Raleigh Erwin, Eula Erwin and R. P, Osborne
be approved.
Carried.
Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer that the. folls~ring
resolution be adopte~.s
WHEREAS, on the 9th day of May, 194.7, the City
Commission of La Porte, Texas, appointed E. E. Boone
Mayor:: of the City, and
WIiEREAS, on said day, the said E. E. Boone qualified
as Mayor and filed his bond in the sum of Three Thousand
Dollars 03,000.00) excuted by the Maryland Casualty Company,
Baltimore, Maryland, as Surety, and
WHEREAS, said bond was accepted and lpproved by said
City Commission, and
WH~EAS, later on the same day the said E. E. Boone
resigned from the off ice of Mayor and his resignation 'was
accepted by the Co~mnission, and

WHEREAS, said bonding company desires a release
from its liability on said bond,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commission
of the City of La Porte, Texas, that said bond of E. E. Boone
as Mayor and the Maryland Casualty Company as Surety is
hereby cancelled and the said principal and surety are hereby
expressly released i'rom any and all responsibility and
liability under said bond.
Carried.
Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate that the following
resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS, the City's contract with it's depository,
the First National Bank of La #~orte, Texas, has expired, and
WHEREAS, the terms, aondit ions~.and agreements in
the old contract are satisfactory to the Commission of the
-City of La Porte and tb the bank,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City
Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas,. that the Fir-at
National Bank of La Porte, Texas, be and is hereby designated
as the depository For the funds of the City and the Mayor
and City Clerk are hereby authorised and instructed to
execute a new contract containing all of the terms, conditions
and agreements as in the old depository aontract,f~and it
is so ordered.
