Stewart, City Attorney Jno. a. Kiibler, Johr_ T. i~~c~~fee representing V7yatt C. Iiedrich, City Engineer, and J. E. htlldoon, Citzt Clerk. Motion by Stewart, second by Grate, that Ordinance Number 738, being an Ordinance preseribin~ the rates, fees and ch~~rges for water service by the City to consumers inside and outside the corporate limits of the City of La Parte, Texas; ~;.~rescribing the' time for payment thereof, providing for ten per cent. (10"~) discount for prompt payment; requiring a water service applica- tion and contract and cash deposit; providing the discontinuance of water service for failure to pay bills promptly and failure to execute application anal contract; prescribing a savings clause; repealing Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith; declaring an emergency; and prescribing the following: the water service of each and every consumer who fails or refuses to pay any monthly water b ill on or before t}~.e tenth day of the second month succeeding that for which such bill is rendered shall be discontinued by th.e City, by shutting off the water valves ate the premises of such consumer, or by removal of the water meter, or by disconnecting the water pipe at the property line of the premises of such consumer. A reconnection fee of two dollars 02.00) shall be charged any consumer whose water service has been disconnected. for nonpayment of bill or other violation of t~_,e City Ordinances, be ,adopted as read, same to be effective for July, 1947, billing, Carried. Motion by Stewart, second by Crate, that Ordinance Number 339, being an Ordinance fixing the rates to be charged by the City of La Porte, Texas, to persons, firms and corporations using its sanitary sewer lines and system; ~~rescribir_g the time and place for the payment of accounts; allowing ten per cent. (10%) discount for prompt payment; providing for disconneci~ing sewer lines for the failure to pay such. charges as they become due; providing for the discontinuance of water service for failure to pay sewer charges; repealing all Ordinances or parts of Or- dinances inconsistent herewith; providing a savings clause; de- claring an emergency and providing the following: the sewer? s~er- ~ai~ce for each and every person, firm or corporation who fails or refuses to pay any monthly severer bill on or before tr~.e tenth day of the second month succeeding that for which such bill is rendered, shall be discontinued by the Gity by disconnecting the sewer line from the City sewer system and Lines and there- after no sev~rer connection shall, after being disconnected. fog the nonpayment of charges, be again reconnected. far the same user until all costs incurred in the actual physical disconnect- ing and reconnecting shall have beer paid and all delinquent sewer service charges have been paid to the City; the F3oard of Commissioners of the City may, if they so decide, discontinue the water service to any water soncumer in the City who fails or refuses to pay any monthly se~aer charge on or before the tenth day of the second montr._ succeeding that for which such bill is rendered; a reconnection fee of. two dollars (~,~2.00) shall be charged any consumer whose water service has been 32~ • -2- • disconne.cted~for nonpayment of sewer bills or other viola- tion of the City Ordinances, be adopted as read, same to be effective for July, 1947, billing. Potion by Crate, second by Stewart, that~the Federal tNorks Agency check No. 10,733,900; dated June 26, 1947, in the amount of X6,350.00, same being an advance for the purpose of plan preparation for construction of public works, des- cribed as a new sanitary sewer .system and disposal plant, be deposited in the General Fund. Carried. T~Ir. IvicAfee, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, explained the preliminary drawings of the proposed sewer system and different materials no~v being used in street building.
