Meeting was called to cyder by Mayor Pfeiffer with the following mem-
bers and officials present: Commissioners Jas. S. Crate Jr. and Jas.
E. Stewart, Supt of Public Yiorks Raleigh Erwin, A. H. Lambert, Editor
and ewner of the La Porte Reporter, the City's offs d al newspaper,
City Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler, anc~ J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk.
Minutes of the last meetings were read and approved.
Motion by Crate, second by Stewart that the following bills in the

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDIPIG FOR THE LEVY, ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF AN
AD VALOREM TAX FOR THE YEAR 1947, OF AND AT THE RATES OF $1.50 ON EACH
X100.00 VALUATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE FC&2 THE
P(TRPOSE OF PAYING TAE INTEREST ON, AND A SINKING FUND FOR, THE REDEMP*
TION OF "CITY OF LA PORTE REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1935", "CITY OF LA-
PORTE SEWER FUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1938", "CITY OF LA PCR TE SEWER RE-
FUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1944" AND "CITY OF LA PORTE WATER SYSTEM REFUND-
ING BONDS, SERIFS 1946," AND FOR PAYING CL~tRENT EXPENSES OF SAID CITY,
be adopted as read.

Motion by Stewart, second by Crate that the following resolution be
adopted
WHEREAS, HEF{ETOFORE, THE MAYOR OF TH;E CITY OF LA PORTE PREPARED
AND SUBMITTED TO THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, AT ITS MEETING HELD ON
NOVEMBER 18, 1947, HIS PROPOSED BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR, JULY 1,
1947 to JUNE 30, 1948; and,
WHEREAS, THE BOARD OF COMlJIISSIONERS FILED SUCH PROPOSED BUDGET
WITH THE CLERK OF THE CITY ON THE 12th DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1947, AND
DESIGNATED THAT A PUBLIC BEARING ON SUCH BUDGET BE HELD AT THE CITY
HALL AT 8:00 P. M. ON DECEMBER 1, 1947, AND CAUSED A'ITTBLIC NOTICE OF
SUCH HEARING T 0 BE MADE; and,
WHEREAS, SUCH PUBLIC HEARING HAS BEEN BELD, IT IS THEREFORE,
ORDERED BY TAE; BOARD OF COMBdISSIONFRS THAT TAE BUDGET, AS PREPARED
AND SUBMITTED BY THE MAYOR, IS HEREBY FINALLY APPROVED BY THE BOARD
OF COMMISSIONERS AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT A TRUE COPY OF SUCH
APPROVED BUDGET, TOGETHER WITH A COPY OF THIS ORDER, SHALL BE FILED
IN EACH OF THE OFFICES OF THE CLERK OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, THE
COUNTY CLERK OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AND THE STATE COMPTROLLER AT
AUSTIN, TEXAS.

The City Clerk was instructed by the Commission to get prices on
tires for fire truck No. 1.
Motion by Stewart, second by Crate instructing the City Clerk to
issue a purchase order to the La Porte Sheet Metal Shop for three
(3) Large Pang, and three (3) Small Pans, in the amount of X15.60,
same being for each of the three fire trucks.
Carried.
D~otion by Crate, seoond by Stearart that the City Clerk have published
a Financial Statement of the City of La Porte.

Motion by Crate, second by Stewart that the following men, M. W.
,~~ Robertson, C. R. Gates, S. R. Yarborough, ~. H. Peters, P. P.
Mason, J. B. Woodard and E. L. Bohanan, be deputised a8 Speoial
Police by Mayor Pfeiffer, and to work on and near Football Stadium
December 5th, 19l~7.
