M. 153 Special meeting of the City Cor~~n.ission was palled to order by Mayor Pfeiffer, with the following members and City officials present:. Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and Jas. E. Stewart, City Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon. Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crato, to authorize the City Clerk to issue a check to the First National Bank of La Porte in the amount of X1000.00, from the Revenue Bond Fund to cover Draft payable to Carl H. Bissell, for Block 1126, La Porte. Carried. Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crate, to transfer moneys paid out of the general fund, for the oonstruetion of tank and aecossories at No. 3 'Nell, back to the general fund frwn the Revenue Bond Fund. Motion by Crate, seoond by Stewart, to ratify payments made t o the Nati oval Tank Company by Warrants Nos. ?75 and 1001, in the aggregate amount of ~4831.14b. Carried. Mr. Don Rogers and bir. Rex Kennerly, representatives of the La Porte Recreation Asso- ciation, appeared before the Co~nanissiom, and requested the City to lend their grader for the eonstruetian. of a soft ball field, and also to deplore the afternoon of N~.y 2Oth, 19I~, as a holiday for the celebration of La Porte Day. The Ca~nrnission agreed to cooperate 100 vrith the La Porte Recreation Associaticas in helping build a soft ball field, and declared the afternoon of May 20th, 1948, a holiday for the celebration of La Porte Day. Mr. Al Wadsworth and Mr. W. W. Uric PJii.llan appeared before the Comt~i.ssion and asked for a ten year extension to their lease on the Airpa~rt site. They asserted that w3.~bh such an extension they could then finance the building of larger hangars which ultimately would bring more business to La Porte. Motion by Stewart, second by Crate, to let J. King fill trench at disposal site, same not to exceed eight (8) hours, at no more than $7.50 per hour. Carried. The Mayor stated that the School Board, at their regular meeting, had waived the in- terest and penalty on delinquent school taxes, and that the President of the School Board has requested the City to take similar aaticm, believing it would be profit- able to the City and the School District to have tax distressed property back on the tax rolls on a current basis . Mcftion by Stewart, second by Crate, that Ordinance No. 358, being AN ORDINANCE RELEASING INTEREST AND PENALTIES ON AD VALOREM TAXES PROVIDED PAYMENT IS MADE ON OR BEFORE JULY 3l, 19l~8, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, be adopted as read. Carried. Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
