Speoial meeting of the City Commissian was called to order by Mayor H.
J. Ff a iff er, with the following members and city officials present : C oaa-
missioner Jas. E. Stewart, Supt. of Publio Works Raleigh Erwin, Wm. Man-
nes, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, Jno. S. $iibler, City
Attorney, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk.
Motion by Stewart, seoond by Pfeiffer, to follow the recamm~endatian of
the Volunteer Fire Department as to the employment of a paid fireman.
Carried..
The Commissiam requested the City Clerk to instruct Walter Roberson,
Chief of Polioe, to contact colored person living at North First Street
and "B", to clean out ditch where he has been dumping trash,
The Comnnission unanimously approved September I8, 1~8, as Air Day.

1I~22, dated August 20, 1~.8, in the amount of X259.00, t o Ise Brothers
and Loy Ferrell, for shell, and cheok No. 1123, dated August 20, 19I.i.8,
in the amount of ~1,559•~- to Lee Brothers, far shell.
Carried.
Motion by Ste~rart, second by Pfeiffer, to authorize the City Engineer
to issue change order on sand and gravel at Disposal Plant in sludge
drying bed, from Q to 0-5~8"-0, and also talcs oredit far $1]1.x.00,
this being the difference in. the cost.
Carried.
The C ommis s ioal instruoted the City Clerk t o wr ite the East Texas Theatres ,
Ino., in conneotian with repairing Fourth (lath) Street, damaged by them
in canstruotion of their new theatre.
IIpam motion by Stewart, second by Pfeiffer, Richard Osborne was re-appointed
Recorder of the C orpar at iaai C sort .
Carried.
The X1,000 band of Richard P. Osborne as Recorder of Corporatism Court,
executed by a Corporate Surety, was read and approved, upon maroon by
Stewart, secancl by Pfeiffer.

trical rates as used by the City of Houston, effective as of October 1~

Motion by Stewart,. second by. Pfeiffer, iomant~ that the fee to be
charged in. issuing permits under Ordinance No. 271 (amplified speaker)
sha11 be"6.00 a year, or prorated on a monthly basis, $l.oo being the
minimum charge.
Carried.
Motion by Stewart, seoond by Pfeiffer, to issue gasoline from the City
pump to the oity equipment, Raleigh Erwin, Walter Roberson and g. bi.
Morton, gasoline to be issued by Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Aablic Works,
J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk, and by the paid fireman, record to be kept
by each for amount issued.
Carried.
Motion by Stewart, second by Pfeiffer, to authorize the City Clerk to
issue J. P. Straughan permits for loud speakers at the fallowing loca-
tions upon payment of the fees: L. B. and opal's Place, Sammie's Place,
Horloak's No. 2, all being on West Pain Street.

~Gotion by Stewart, second by Pfeiffer, to reduce the value on Lots 3,
Ia., 6 to 8, anal 11 to 16, Block 51, Sylvan Beach, to X1000.00, faa~ each
of the years of 1936 to 19l.~.6, inclusive.
