Speoial meeting of the La Porte City Commission was Dolled to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members and pity offioials pre- sent: Ccrosniseice~ers Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and Jas. B• Stewart, Supt. oP l~blio Woa~Ics Raleigh Erwin, City Attorney Jno. S: giibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoar~.. Motion. by Crate, seoond by Stewart to authorise the City Clerk to issue a work order to the Quaker Rubber Corporation to have 17 seotia~s oP 2~', and 5 eeotions of 1~' fire hose, be3sig 1100 feet, reooupled. Carried. Potion by Stewart, second by Crate, that the follcuing men, S. H. Yar- borough, Morris ~. Roberson, C. R. Gatos, H. J. Mo Len,, ~. H. Peterson, D. L• Bohanan and W. H. l~sgrc~ve, be deputised by Mayor Pfeiffer, and to work under the supervision of Polioe Chief Walter Roberson, as Speoial Polioe and to work ~ and near the football stadium during the current football eeasaa~. Carried. The Coamniasiam instruoted the City Clerk to write a follow up letter to Lynn Caa~ Company and request traffio sign$ be shipped immediately as agreed. Motiaa: by Crate, aeoa~nd by Stewart, that the City Clerk be authorised to refund to Walter Robersoni, X6.35 that he paid far Polioe badges. Carried. Ma4Y~' H. J. Pfeiffer, is acsoordanae with Ordinanoe No. 363, appointed W. R• Thornton, an employee of a Publio IItility Company, and Jas. S. Crate, Jr., a member of the Camm~issiom, to serve as members of the Eleotrioal Board in p©sitions 1 and 2, with Raleigh Erw3~2, City Sup- erintendent of Public Works, who by virtue of Ordinanoe IIo. 363, is Chairman of the Board. The Co®oiss ia~n unanimously coa~firmed the appointments made by the Mayor, to the Eleotrioal Board• Motion by Stewart, second by Crate, that Ben Taylor be appointed Sohool Policeman for the term beginning on the 1st of September, 1~.8, and end- ing on the 31st day of August, 1~9, and his bond be set at X1000.00. Carried. ,~ • • Mohan by Crate, sea and by Stewart, that the Maryland Casualty Company Band No. 8235146, for Ben Taylor as school policeman, be approved. Carr ied• The City Clerk presented the Mayors proposed budget for the fiscal year Ju]y 1, 1~.8, to. June 30~ 149, which was filed in Clerk's office September 7 , 148, and after oansideratiam. and discussion, maticsz by Crates seoand by Stewart, that this proposed budget be approved, sad that a public hear- ing beheld October ~th, 1;148, at the City Hall at La Porte, Texas, at 8:00 o'clock P. Y., and the proper notice of such hearing be published in the La Pete Reporter. Carried. The Commission instructed Raleigh Erwin, Superintendent. of Public 1Norl~s, to plaoe~"No Parking" signs <~ Sauth "B" Street, between Broadway and San Jacinto Avenue, ad~aaent to the football. stadium.
