Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by bleyor Pfeiffer, v~*ith the follovu:ing members and city officials present: Jas. S. Crate Jr. and Jas. E• Stewart, Supt. of Public Works Raleigh Erwin, John T. Me Afee and John Withers, representing ~'Pyatt C. Hedriclr, City Engineer, A. H. Lambert, Editor anal owner of the La Porte Reporter, City Attorney Jno. S. Kiib]er, ar~.d J. E. Nkxldoon, City Clerk. William Crenshaw also appeared before the Commission in quest of news. 1~ilton Beak appeared before the Commission. and requested the City Commission to write a letter in his behalf to the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, requesting they issue him. a Master Plumberts License without examination. Motion by Crate, sea and by Stewart to authorize the City Clerk to write a letter to the Texas State Board of Pluz~.bing Examiners as requested by Mr. Beck. Carried. The City Commission instructed the City Clerk to vrrite the State High- way Department relative to traffic lights at West Main and State Hj,gh- ,way No• 225, and Five Points intersection (State Highways Number 225 and ].J~.6.) Also find out what consideration had been given to our s,pplication for curb and gutter,as set out in our lettlzr dated August 1, 19.7 • Motion by Stewart, second by Crate to authorize the City Clerk to "Offer to Purchase" fram the War Assets Administration, 300 all metal folding chairs. Carried. Motion by Stewart, second by Crate to approve contracts with Ed Niles and Mo ~3.11an Can.struetion C©., Inc. and authorizing the hrayor and City Clerk to sign both contracts. Carried.
