Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Pfeiffer with the following members and city officials presents C arnmissioners Jas. S. Crate Jr. and Jas. E. Stewart, A. H. Lambert, Sr., Editor and owner of the La Porte Reporter, Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public ti~orks, City Attorney Jno• S. Kiibler, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk. Motion by Stewart, second by Crate, that the following resolution be adopted: WHEREAS, the City of La, Porte, at the request of the McMillan Construction Com- pan3r, Ina., has entered into a contract with Ed Niles for water and sewer main extensions through blocks No. Two Hundred Twenty-six (226), Tyo Hundred Thirty- nine (239), Two Hundred Fifty-ona (251), Town. of La Porte, snd Blocks No. Seven (7) and Eight (8), B,,y Front Addition, Town of La Porte, for a total cost of approximately Twelve Thousand Dollars 012,000.00), and V6HEREAS , j:he McMillan Construction Company Inc . has deposited with the City, the sum of Eight Thousand Dollars ($8,000.00), the approximate cost for labor for such work, and I~dHEREAS, the said Ed Niles wishes to have the City set aside the sum of Twelve Thousand Dollars 012,000.00) for the purpose of paying for the construction of said water and sewer main, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of .Commissioners that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby, authorized and instructed to set aside the sum of Twelve Thousand Dollars 0 12,000.00) out of the General Fund for the purpose of paying for the construction of said tivork, and, further that said sum not be used for any other purpose, and it is so ordered. Carried. Mot ion by Crate, seoond by Stewart, to delete water and sewer extensions frc~n. Block 216, La Porte, as contained in contract with Ed Niles, Job No. 3633, and construct water mains in Blocks 210 San Jacinto Homes and 250 La Porte. Carried. Mr. L•. E. Posey, Travis Cowran., Geo. L. Mc Millar and Milton Beck, of the Cham- ber of Commerce, appeared before the Commission, and inspected the plans for sewer and water extensions, and after approving same, they requested the Com- mission to call a publio meeting and have the City Engineer and Bondsmen explain the bond issue necessary to finance the proposed sewer and water improvements. Mr. W. A. Arthur appeared before the Coannission in connection with operating a taxicab line isz La Porte. Motion by Crate, seoo~nd by Stewrart, instructing the City Attorney to write an ordinance regulating taxicab rates, inspection fees, eto. Carried. ..- -- ~~-.~n .n .~, ,. ,~ . _ _ 106... Motion by Crate, second~y Stewart, that Ordinance No. , being AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMrENSATION OF THE MAYOR AND TMO COMt~IISSIONERS TO BE ELECTED IN APRIL: 1~.~.8, PROVIDING V~iEN SUCH COMPENSATION SHALL BE PAID AND THAT SUCH COMPENSATION SHALL BE .PAID OUT OF THE GENERAL FUNDS OF THE CITY; REPEAL IATG ALL ORDINANCE AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES 1N CONFLICT HERE~`1ITH AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, be adopted as read. Carried. The Caaunission instructed the City Clerk to write a.letter to fir. Hance Busch and request that he mace his corral fence frown.
