M• 107 Speoial meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Pfeiffer with the following members and city officials present; Commissioners Jas. S. Crate Jr. and Jaa. E. Stewart, A. H. Lambert Sr., Editor and owner of the La Porte Reporter, John T. Mc Af'ee, representing Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Public P,lorks, City attorney Jno. S. Kiibler, and J. E. I~uldovn, City Clerk. A group of citizens representiz~; different civic organizations appeared before the Comzai.seion to discuss with the $-sml~era, a bond issue for an adequate disposal plant and additional sewer and water lines. Ddr. John T. Me Afee, representing the engineerir~ firm of Wyatt C. Hedrick, City Engineer, outlined the necessity of additional sewer anal water lines, with a new disposal plant, from a survey recently made by his firm. W. E. Knickerbocker of the bondinr; firn: of A?e Clunk and Knickerboelser, outlined the kind of a bond issue and the amount that the City of La- Porte could ss.f'ely issue at this time. He reeominended a revenue bear- ing bond issue in thrs amount of one-half million dollars with the sale of X250,00©.OQ nor and the rest i.n some taro or three years, or as the needs of tY:e City dems.nded. Some of the citizens present were Geo. Mc Millen,, E. E. Boone, Travis Cowan, A~2r. Chas. Ashton, Sa*n Huwieler, George Counts, riilton Beak, J. R4. Smith, and many others. ToTotion by Stewart, second by Crate to call a bond election for ~w500,000.00 worth of revenue bonds, and that Ernest Broom and Mc Clung and Knicker- bocker be authorized and instructed to have prepared the necessary orders and ordinances for a bond issuo for X500,000.00, X250,000.00 to be issued ~:_t this time and X250,000.00 to be issued w~.en the city finances are sufficient, all such bonds shall not bear interest at a greater rate than ~~ and shall have a fifteen year call date, all such bonds to be water and sewer bonds. C err iad. The City Clerk read a letter fr~n Ivor. C. L. Ashton relative to alley in Block 198, La Porte, and to the condition in front of his place since the State installed new the drain. The Commission agreed that this condi- tion should be remedied and would request the State Highway Department to finish their work in front of 1~Ir.
