Speoial meeting of the City Comrniasion was oalled to order by Mayor Pfeiffer, with the following members and City officials prosents Commissioners Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and Jas. E. Stewart, Supt. of Publio Works Raleigh Ertin, John T. Mo Afee and John Withers, representing Myatt C. Hedriok, City Engineer, A. H. Lambert, owner and Editor of the La Porte Reporter, City Attorney Jno. S. giibler, and J. E. Muldoon, City Clerk. ~. ~P. W. Mo Millan, Developer, and Mr. E. E. Weaver, with the Texas Abstraot Company, appeared before the Comsaisaion in oonneation with building and survey lines in the proximity oP San Jaointo Homes. 5 This matter was referred to the City Engineer for investigation. Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crate, that the following Resolution be adopted: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THS MAYOR AND CITY TREASURER TO ISSUE A CHECH TO ERNEST L. BROfRN, JR., IN PAYMENT OF CON'PRACT. WHEREAS, the City Comsaiaaion of the City of La Porte, Texas, has heretofore entered into a oontraot with Ernest L. Brown, Jr., of Houston, Texas, in conneot- ion with the isauanoe by said City of La Porte of its Waterworks and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 19Is8; and WHEREAS, said Ernest L. Bror-n, Jr., has parried out all of the terms of said oontract and is now entitled to the payment of his tee under said oontraot; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ~' THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS: That the Mayor sad City Treasurer of the-City of La Porte be,~and they are hereby e~uthorited and direoted to issue a oheok to Ernest L. Brown, Jr., of Houston; Texas, in the amount of Five Thousand-Two Hundred and Fifty 05,250.00) Dollars, in payment of his tee under a~aontraot between the City Commission of said City and the said Ernest L. Brown, Jr., for the ttiarnishing of-all neoessary legal prooeedings, printed bbnda, and nll other neoesaary aervioes, in oonneotion with the isauanoe by said City of La Porte of its Waterworks and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 191.8. Brown, Jr., seuae being planed on deposit by Mr. Brawn as required by the City, pending suooessful bidders good faith in oonsumwating purohase of revenue bonds, oheok to be held in eaorow by the-First National Bank of La Porte, Texas, and paid over to Mr. Brown upon his delivery oP bond prooeed8 to the bank. Carried. The City Clerk read a letter from Carl Hillyer Bissell en Blook 1126, La Porte, in whioh'he offered to sell it to the City with•oertain oonditions and stipulations. lotion by Stewart, aeoond by Crate, to acospt Carl Hillyer Bissell's offer, and in- struotsd the City Clerk to write his of their aooeptanoe. Carried. Motion by Stewart, aeoond by Crate, to authorize the Mayor to oontaot J. Bing, for the purpose of digging a trenoh at the disposal site. Carried. Motiqu by Stewart, aeoond by Crate, to authorize the Flood Control Distriot to dig a ditch fromd the City liaita line on Park'Avenue t© South Fifth Avenus, and North on South Fifth Avenue to South "E" Street, and to plans dirt from said ditoh on South Fifth Avenue right-of-+way. Carried. Motion by Stewart, aeoond by Crate, to re~eot all bids for the oonstruotion oP a Sanitary Sewer Collsotion System and Sewage Disposal Plant, and Bonds be returned to the bidders.
