Speoial meeting of the City Coimni.asion was oalled to order by Mayor H. J. Pfeiffer, with the following members aril city offioials prese~st: Comnissianers Jas. S. Crate, Jr. and Jas• g. Stewart, Supt. of Publio works Raleigh Erwin, John T. Mo Afee, re- presenting 'Wyatt C. Hedriok, City Engineer, City Attorney Jno• S. giibler, and City Clerk J. Fs. Muldoon. Mr. Finest L. Broaai, Jr. appeared before the Comanissiaai in oc®neotion with proposed baud issue Par street improvements, storm sewers and inoizserator. The Commission authorized Mr• Brorma to have prepared for sale ire the aggregate amount oP X50,000 of unsold Cif of La Porte Pater ~orka and Sewer System Revenue Bonds. Motion by Stewaex~t, seoond by Crate, authorizing Raleigh Erwin, Supt. of Publio YPorks, t o purohas a 100 wet ea' meters. Carried. Motion by Crate, seoaaad by Stewart, authorising J. 0. Rollins, Fire Chief, to have 1y seotions of Pare hose reooupled. Carried. The Commission instruoted the City Cleric to order 150 dog tags, and to oontaot Dr. Naylor, Veteranariaa, for ~aooinating doge. Mr. John T. Mo Afee presented to the Caasmtssion ohs and Bruoe Construction Conpanyta semi-final statemient (eontraotor's estimate No. 5~ in the amount of ~27,1a,7.7.2t~., same being the balan.os due, less retainage For the pertormanoe of baokfill work, retain- age deduoted in the amount of X500.00. The Ca~md ssian asked the City Attorneyts opinion in the payment of this amount. The City Attorney reoominended peymeaYt be made iii aeoordanese with the terms oP the aon- traot, retaining 15~. Motion by Crate, seoond by Stewart, to aooegt Plant substantially oanpleted, and to withhold retainine as per oantraot• Carried. Motion by Stewart, seoond by Crate, authorizing the City ~gineer to add autaenatio oaatrola to the ohlorinator at the Disposal Plant. Carried. The CaeIIaiesion instructed the City Clerk to execute necsssary pRpers to purhhase or re3eot the following items located at Camp Wallaoes 2200 Feet Chain L3i~k Fence 6' high. Garage -Size 37 x 8t~' . Storeroom -Site 18 x 20'. Fire Station, including all instal led.equipmemt. Mr. Wyche, with 1~yche and Bruce Camstrua':tioa Compa~}y Dame into the meeting at this a time, and asked to talk about his statement. He was informed his statement was ordered paid, however retaiaage in the amownt of 15~, rather than X500.00, was being withheld. b[r. Wyche stated it was aatisfaotory with him, but he would eom- plate his work the next day, ~-d claim the total amount due ham under his aontraot. The pity, however, at a later date would have to do sage of the bank filling over, beeause of weathee~ conditioavs. If the city would authorize payment of atate~ment as prese¢~ted, ie, less retainage of X500.00, he would ooare back scaae time latea~ and do the baokfilling. After discussion, motion by Crate, seoand by Stewart, to rescind prior motiam relative to payment of Wyche ar~d Bruce's statement . Carried. C7 ~ ~ ~9 Motion by Crate, second by Stewart, to accept plant substantially completed and withhold $500.00 retainage as per statement, amount of stateatent, $27,1~17.21~. Carried. The City Clerk informad the Mayor that Mr. Odell Broaxi, and Wm. P. (Bill) Jones could sot serve as clerks on the city election board of Maroh 22, 1~.9. The Mayor appointed b4rs. Calvin Compton to take the plaee of Ode11 Brown, azxi Mrs. gym. Stabs in the place of gym. P. (Bill) Janes. Motiaaa by Crate, second by Stewart, that the meeting ad3oura~. Carried. L' H.
